I was impressed by his first round KO of Quintana, and his knockout percentage of roughly 70% is very good for a welterweight. I would not say he's a huge puncher, but his power is above average for a top boxer, in my opinion.
I seriously didnt rate it after watching him labour to put away Pakau and Mathyesse. But stopping Verno is impressive...Still dont think he has great one punch power..But he has the kind of pop that lends itself well to his accumulation approach.
He's changed his punching style since then though. He used to throw lots and lots of arm punches, and that's how he threw 100 punches a round. Even against Margarito, it was mostly arm punches. After his loss, he learned how to sit on his punches more, and he's displayed quite a bit more power since then (although he got back to old habits against Winky, because that's what's more effective against a turtle shell defender like Winky).
I voted 8 but i think it's more a 7. When PW sits down on his punches, i think he's got plenty of pop. We all know that no WW alive wants to face this guy.
Averege puncher, can knock you out but if you have a great chin you could easly survive. Paul trow so many punches that make fighters quick or hurt if they not see the punch a la Quintana . I don't see any fighters being hurt by a punch that he saw but couldn't catch.
