I used the version of these fighter at the time they fought Mayweather not at the prime. That Marquez is not better than anyone I mentioned from Durans resume.
Cotto is better than Dejesus. What kind of nonsense is it to say Dejesus was better? So Duran looks better that he beat him? Cotto was much better than Dejesus.
OK, I will give my reasons. DeJesus beat a prime Duran and dropped him twice. Beat This content is protected twice who was tough (watch him verse prime Duran and that will tell you how tough he was), moved up in weight and gave the great This content is protected all he could handle, beat This content is protected who beat Buchanan, and in his last fight DeJesus fought This content is protected . On top of that, at 135 I think he would beat Cotto. It is not only that he beat Duran but, that he also was a lightweight champion and a Jr. Welterweight condenter who always fought the best and usually beat them. Why is Cotto better than DeJesus? Before you bring up his multiple titles, please add the context of the titles. I will give a little of what I see in his title wins and losses of them. Cesar Bazan - Won vacant WBC International Light Welterweight title. Kelson Pinto - Won vacant WBO Light Welterweight title. Carlos Quintana - Won vacant WBA Welterweight title. This content is protected Michael Jennings - Won vacant WBO Welterweight title. This content is protected Yuri Foreman - Won WBA World Light Middleweight title. This content is protected This content is protected Sergio MartÃnez - Won The Ring and WBC Middleweight titles. If Cotto would have been fighting in say 1972 when DeJesus beat Duran he would have to face these champions: Robert Duran at 135 Antonio Cervantes at 140 Jose Napoles at 147 Carlos Monzon at 160 Bob Foster at 175 That is it. There are no Cesar Bazan's, Kelson Pinto's, or Michael Jennings' etc. No WBO's and Super This content is protected This content is protected
:rofl I think you need to actually watch fighters rather as just check boxrec. DeJesus was better than Cotto and Buchanan would have boxed circles round Cotto. Much better era of talent. Those guy's would be p4p top 5 in this era imo
Well the question was not is Cotto better than Dejesus, it was is Cotto better than Edwin Viruet. And I don't think that really needs to be asked.
The question is being answered, thought not completely agreed with, not completely disagreed with either. The Duran list I provided (which I forgot to put Moore and Barkley) is being compared to the highest level of comp that Mayweather has fought. This list that is loosely ranked shows me saying that Mayweathers competition at the time he fought them does not get any higher than Viruet. "At the time he fought them", important phrase, makes it clear that none of fighters that Mayweather fought compare to the DeJesus that Duran fought. Basically, DeJesus is the cut-off point. Leonard Hagler Hearns Benitez Palomino Cuevas Buchannan DeJesus Viruet - (Mayweather's highest level of competition is about here.) Marcel I don't think Mayweather competition level gets any higher than Viruet. Cotto may be better than him...but, I am not sure if I can see Cotto beating his man. I really don't. Viruet only lost to Duran and DeJesus in his prime years. Nothing wrong there. 30 round with Duran and Duran could do nothing with him. Duran beat him on points because Viruet was too mobile and too smart to try and trade with Duran. But at the same time he did not take the Duran fights serious. He thought Duran was a joke. No one is giving any reason why Cotto is better than these guys. I see statements but, not reason.
