I didnt say that ,but I think he probably did now that you mention it,his one punch power was possibly superior.Did Hagler hit as hard as Briscoe?
I've seen plent of Hagler fights, cheers. But Hagler and Duran are m favourites. When you say better do you mean...better?
How can we KNOW?? We have no ideal how Nonpareil would do vs Jackson, McClellan, Hagler ete. There is a few pics and no footage. But what we are told is that Jack Dempsey was a GREAT fighter. I dont hold it against Fitz. Dempsey was not a brawler like the heavyweight Dempsey was, but a top boxer.
Interesting thread....but how about these guys at middleweight? Rocky Graziano Carlos Monzon Gerald McClellan Charley Burley Rubin Carter Roy Jones Jr. ???
If Jackson is a ten.... shouldn't it be about a 10+? He had power like you see in video games or comic books. And although SRR may have had less P4P "power" than the Hawk, he also combined it with tremendous speed & accuracy-making his overall offense more efficient. IMHO, I think Tiger had a harder punch than Hagler(the lefthook), but Marvin was adapt at being a boxer/puncher. Don't necessary think Hagler had a "8" or a "7.5", but he was also a much better finisher than Tiger (although Tiger fought better fighters). Marvin had some jolting one punch KO's though. He took out Worm Monroe.... & was it Obel II? As for Monzon "power".... due to Monzon's brittle hands, it's difficult to tell how much power he carried indeed. Graziano may have had a 10+. His right hand was a weapon of mass destruction.
Rocky Graziano...8.5 Carlos Monzon...8 Gerald McClellan...9.5 (a 10 is fine as well) Charley Burley...8.5 Rubin Carter...mmm, about a 7.5 for me. Roy Jones Jr...9
I don't see RJJ being so high on power (as in raw, natural power), although he'd rank near the top as a puncher at middleweight. He'd be about 7 on power alone, but about 9.5 as a puncher.
