    I see your point, mate.

But Vitali made Lewis miss more than any other opponent. Vitali outlanded Lewis too. Lewis had a very hard time at nailing Vitali with a clean shot.

Vitali was in there with an ATG Lewis and still looked great defensively given his size, imo. You're right Vitali didn't fight too many guys as big as Lewis (because there aren't many big guys out there for him as in the WW division for Floyd), Hoffmann or Sanders come to mind and Vitali clowned them. He barely got touched in 46 fights, I dont care if you would call his opponents tomato cans, that speaks for something.

Name 3 other better defensively skilled heavyweights than Vitali in the last 10-15 years.

I'd say, Haye and Byrd are the best, Vitali is right up there. He has a great instinct and anticipation for shots and blocks punches as awkwardly as I have ever seen. Using his shoulders and arms with a leaning back and counter style. It just looks clumsy to some because he is so big.

With all due respect to you, there have been 2 times Vitaly has faced aversity. Half of those times he quit. That has to be taken into account.

Ah I do understand your point, I was veiwing it more from the point of when he has opponents infront of him that he CAN easily get out of there who have no chance of hurting him (i.e. Chambers) he doesn't

Vitali fought an aggressive Chisora for 10 rounds with a torn ligament in his left shoulder. If that's not facing adversity I dont know what it is.

Yep, thats his only consistent defensive skill. He doesn't parry, slip or block punches. He backs straight up with his arms out.

Here's proof if you need it. Feel free to provide proof of him do all the thing I just pointed out.

First off you have no idea when the injury occurred except Vitaly's word. Second, Chisora was a 15-2 fighter.....in other words very inexperienced. And third, the doctors said it wasn't serious.

:patsch Just when i think you can not be dumber you surprise me, if boxer B has more of a killer instinct than boxer A doesnt mean that boxer B will beat boxer A or that boxer B is better than boxer A, killer instinct is just a part of fighter.
And to clarify to you if fighter has killer instinct 9 out of 10, no way would his trainer yell at him, like he is a 9 year old kid, to finish of someone!!!

This better be a troll thread. 9 killer instinct? Ha! I'm serious when I say that is the most absurd thing I have heard on ESB since joining, and that is saying something! Sam peter was practically out on his feet from exhaustion and posed no threat whatsoever and here is Wladimir, jab, jab, hold, jab jab. What a chicken. Tyson would knock these fools out within a minute.

Lol, a gif of one sequence of a fighter to far away to land punches to begin with with Vitaly backing straight up with his arms out, as I've already pointed out? :yep

Is that the best you can come up with? And 8 second gif? :-(

I am surprised that anyone is questioning either boxer's heart. Wlad has done his best to get up every time he has been knocked down. Right after his chin was exposed he jumps into the ring with Sam Peter, who was feared as a monster puncher, and kept getting up off the canvas to win. Vitali wanted to keep fighting after suffering some of the nastiest facial injuries I have seen in boxing. They have cleaned out the division and taken on all possible contenders.

I am also surprised anyone is questioning their footwork or defence. Their footwork sees them almost always in the right place at the right time, keeps them balanced, keeps perfect distance, allows them to display great ring generalship. It is also technically sound, although the wide stance is a touch unorthodox, it is designed to work very well for them. They might not slip punches, but they don't get hit - isn't that the definition of a good defence?

I'd also agree with people who are questioning their killer instinct. I think they have extraordinary discipline and mental toughness, but their instinct is to win - not to go for the kill.

For a big guy Vitaly has amazign footwork. He danced around all night against Arreola and countered at will. After the fight he said that he fights in the style he needs to to win.

Also... this is not "statistically".... has nothing to do with statistics.

    It is numerically.
