This is a very deep division.

Although most people will disagree, while Campbell is the best fighter in the division, Casamayor is still lineal champion. Here are my rankings:

    1. Casamayor
    2. Campbell
    3. Juan Diaz
    4. David Diaz
    5. Santa Cruz
    6. Julio Diaz
    7. Katsidis
    8. Khan
    9. Raheem
    10. Peterson

Side question: If Pacquiao were to beat David Diaz by KO, TKO or wide UD, where would you place him?

I see only Katsidis and Khan has good KO rate.

David Diaz has the lowest KO percentage and not yet tested with A+ fighters. I predict he' ll have the shortest reign in the division. imo

I think lightweight is a very strong division - I rate Amir Khan pretty highly, but feel that until he has overcome either a puncher, or someone with a punchers chance, he needs to be excluded from the top 10.

    4. Julio Diaz
    5. David Diaz
    6. Santa Cruz
    7. Romanov

I agree with your observation, although i disagree with your assessment. Diaz surely don't pack as much power as Katsidis or campbell, but as you've noticed, Diaz is unrelenting pressure. The guy just gets stronger as the fight goes on. Plus he just doesn't let up on his workrate.

I just don't think Diaz is that weak. Just my two cents.

(Unless of course it's Pac he faces next :D)

I would have agreed up until Khans last fight , Im a big fan of both Petersons but Khan was brilliant against St Clair he barely put a foot wrong. I reckon thats enough to edge Peterson ( just ! )

this is a good list and in my estimation, if pac wins over diaz, i'd rate him at 3 behind casa at (1st) and campbell at (2nd). and the next fight of pac should be with casa to legitimize the wbc belt.

I myself never ranked Katsidis very high (wins over Earl - we know what Khan did to him - and Amonsot - nobody have EVER heard of him before) and of course he lost via KO to Casamayor who won a terrible decision vs. Santa Cruz before that, so the Diaz-conqueror Campbell rules my list. Also Diaz lost a close fight with a terrible cut vs. a fighter who threw 1132 (powerful) punches... that loss and the unifications put together is better in my book than Joel's last few fights (for example a close victory over the shot and weight-drained Corrales (R.I.P. champ!)...

From 3 to 10 it's difficult... for example Peterson is very talented but I think Khan fought the better competition so far...

    Champ: Nate Campbell
    1. Juan Diaz
    2. Joel Casamayor
    3. Jose Armando Santa Cruz
    4. David Diaz
    5. Jose Alfaro ('regular' WBA champ, KO'd Corley and defeated Singwancha)
    6. Julio Diaz
    7. Michael Katsidis
    8. Yuri Romanov
    9. Amir Khan
    10. Kid Diamond/Raheem

    Champ-Casamayor

    1 Campbell
    2 J Diaz
    3 Julio Diaz
    4 D Diaz
    5 Katsidis

I think Pac would fit somewhere around 1 or 2 but I'll wait to see how he fares with Diaz first.

I wanna put Peterson there but I really want to see him with a higher level opponent first.

Julio Diaz is down but he'll bounce back. Good technical fighter.

Casa is the champ. Belts mean squat when you've got a champ.

    C. Casamayor (would probably be 3 otherwise)
    1. Campbell
    2. Juan Diaz
    3. Julio Diaz
    4. Jose Santa Cruz
    5. Amir Khan
    6. Michael Katsidis
    7. Anthony Peterson
    8. Urbano Antillon
    9. Zahir Raheem
    10. David Diaz

I don't think it's a deep weight class at all anymore, but there are a lot of upstarts who could make the division deep really quick.
