I'm surprised that JLC and Rafael Marquez aren't getting more votes; Rafa was an absolute monster at BW (H-2-H a ****ing nightmare of a fight for anyone in history in that division), beating Mabuza (twice), Mark Johnson (twice) and Tim Austin in a classic. Castillo beat and drew with Stevie Johnson (very underrated in his prime), Cesar Bazan, Julio Diaz, Corrales (under dubious circumstances), fast rising Juan Lazcano in a war, and Casamajor; he also, arguably, gave P-4-P king Floyd Mayweather his two toughest fights.

Yeah you're right about the age thing, but the wins against Lopez, Nelson, Gomez, Castillo and Laporte do enough for him to get ranked ahead of the others guys IMO. The fact that he did it all by the age of 23 is simply amazing, he could've been one of THE greatest fighters in history. He could've faced the likes of Arguello, Pryor, Limon, Fenech, Chavez, Camacho etc.

What could've been hey... I still watch him and think he is one of the best fighters I've ever seen. Probably top 10 in terms of best, not greatest. I'm sure there'll be people saying "oh that's rubbish"...

The only one I would call a legend is MAB. The rest fed on his old bones and fooled people off of that. The Naseem fight was MAB's last top level fight.

Not at all sold on the other three.

Morales beat Pacquiao, which is a better win that any of them have. I also felt he edged the first two fights against Barrera (both decisions were debatable), hence why I think he's ahead of Barrera. The third fight was more past Erik's best than Barrera's, kind of like Ali-Frazier III.

    Morales
    Barrera
    JMM
    JLC

I feel Morales was the best out of the 4. MAB a great fighter but I dislike him. JMM could move up a place if he continues to win for another 2-3 years against top oppisition. JLC was a top fighter but ranks lower than the others. All definitely greats and future Hall of Famers.

That is why I used the words "Mexican" and "Modern"

I feel that Morales and Barrera are locks for top 100 all-time regardless of nationality or time period.

What defines legend status for you? If it is top 20 or top 30, then that is cool, but as far as Mexican legends go you can't exclude Morales or Barrera (or even Castillo) and as far as "modern" Mexican legends go you cannot exclude anyone on the original list (if they are not top 10, they are at least top 20 or 30).

    As of now it's

    MAB
    EM
    JMM
    JLC

But I have a feeling the before it's all said and done JMM will elevate himself as #1 on this list.

My list as well. :smoke ...and Izzy Vazquez deserves mention somewhere in there. Guy has accumulated quite a resume over the past few years.

I find it impossible to split Morales, Barerra and Marquez. I feel like I've sinned against whoever I put on the bottom.

JLC whilst an excellent fighter top25-30 lightweight of alltime I reckon...Hasnt got the record of Morales and Barerra..He deserves recognition by I wouldnt put him over them.

Gotta disagree with you about Raf Marquez aswell...massive puncher and a huge bantam in his day but I think there are a lot of guys who would handle him quite comfortably @ bantam..Not a knock on Marquez just a nod to the rich history of the division.
