Some people on here have said Lewis had the power to knock Ali out, but how did his power compare to Foreman`s or Lyle`s or Shaver`s?

    Better than Lyle

    Worse than Foreman and Shavers.
He was more explosive than Shavers though

All four had the power to KO anyone. None would have stopped Ali and that is a given. I watched three of the four live and in person train. Foreman hit far harder. The force of his blows manhandling a 300 lb heavy bag still resonates in my mind. He did it like it was nothing. Like a normal hwt hits a standard heavy bag. George was immensely strong and he threw his punches with speed and bad intentions.

Lewis and Foreman are probably about even, Foreman just looks better because he's hitting smaller guys and swinging for the fences more often. Shavers is according to Holmes and All hit them the hardest. That's tough to beat, on the other hand he KO'd very few top ten opponents.

Lyle a notch below Foreman, Lewis and Shavers.

I actually put LL on a level with Lyle (except for his overhand right, which was about Tyson/Bowe level imo).

And I agree, no Foreman or Shavers there.

As far as knocking out 1964-1975 Ali ha-ha NO. He might have stopped him after the Thrilla.

Cooper and Frazier both had significantly more power in their left hands. Shavers had a better right, and he landed flush on Ali a couple of times during their fight. Then there's Foreman...Lewis wasn't a Foreman from a knockout perspective.

He never threw a more explosive punch than the right hand Shavers dropped Holmes with.

Why did Foreman and Lewis go the distance in a number of fights while still in their primes if they both had the power to knock anyone out?

All of them could hit like moving trucks. Maybe Lyles power was less constant compared with Lewis and Foreman.

Couldn't agree more. Shavers didn't just step in, he LUNGED in. Total force of body behind that punch. Even more amazing than the fact that Larry got hit by that shot is the fact that Larry didn't just get up but got up to completely dominate again. A great champion.

That was just one of the fights that proves Holmes' superiority as a champ. Look at the Norton, Snipes, Witherspoon, Weaver fights as well.

Norton lit Holmes up several times in that fight.

 Foreman and speed should never be used in the same sentence.

I don`t think Foreman `s punches were as slow during the 70`s at all.
