The guy is great but the girls are very sloppy at times with punching technique and defence. I think that to make an accurate judgment on the guy we'd need to see him against people closer to his skill level.
Can't judge anything on that. I've seen better match ups on a ****** undercard. I can say one thing though, there's absolutely no way I'd hit a girl that hard in sparring.
Tae Kwon Do. aka, Take One's Dough. Some awesome kicks, awesome to watch when they're doing demos and such, but I can't ****ing stand watching TKD guys sparring. They have some of the worst possible technique I can imagine for people that train that much.
Tang Soo Do is what it was. Agree on the not hitting a woman that hard. I felt the guy could have won the 30 seconds of sparring by tapping the girls light. The girls should have parried their way in or bobbed and countered, yeah? If catching kicks was allowed (guy did it once) that's also a good way in.
It is ineffective. First thing you'll notice if you spar someone with a TKD background: Their hands are always nowhere Second thing you'll notice: They gas after about 30s of sparring at a decent pace
at the end of the day when it comes to TKD or any traditional korean martial arts, you can't compare then to other forms of fighting. you have to appreciate it for what it is and that is that the korean's are the best KICKERS in the world. Ok so what is today's application, basically nothing. TKD was invented by koreans to fight japanese occupation against their horses. If you understand the historical appllication of taekwondo, then u can just learn to appreciate it for its art form and thats amazing kicks. to make it complete, ancient korean martial arts incorporated techniques from karate and kung fu. the traditional style of korean martials arts are just like any other karate school with an emphasis on kicks by those who practice it, otherwise modern day taekwondo has become much of a sport. don't take it if you actually want to learn how to fight. Honestly, I think if you want to avoid all that gay **** on the ground, but you want to be well rounded, I think TKD is good if you're already a boxer because the style is at an angle like boxing. It's not that squared up bull****. If anything, I'm sure they at least teach you to block kicks, right?
A lot of TKD instructors claim to be teaching FIGHTING, not a SPORT or KICKING. And kickboxers or Muay Thai guys have just as good or BETTER kicks. Kickboxing is where all stand up martial arts need to work, like K-1. Frans Botha did good, but the same can't be said for TKD guys.
2-2 in mma? his two wins probably came against broads. i dont know much about traditional martial arts, i guess they're taking some sort of belt test, but watching a guy beat the **** out of two girls does not impress me at all
