Pinklon Thomas was very good until he went back on smack and lost to Berbick
Greg Page erratic but dangerous when fit
    Witherspoon-Smith about even, overrated both
    Tony Tubbs

Tony Tubbs was far and away the best.

An argument can be made that he never lost.

I think page fought the highest number of live opponents and came through more 50-50 fights than all of them. If you include USBA title fights he won more title fights than the others listed. He was thrown in with everybody, fought often an had some good runs. most impressive was the coetzee war and knocking out a very good tillis but had strong wins over capable guys who wanted to win like marty monroe, larry alexander, renaldo snipes, georde chaplain, stan ward, ledoux and even late in his career beating bonecrusher and witherspoon. Even as a road warrior Page was competative and took a lot of guys close. Page just fought everyone where as tubbs and thomas fought only a handfull of names.

Put Riddick Bowe in with all the guys Page had to fight and Bowe would not make anybody's ATG list.

Witherspoon Dec. = Don King contrived robbery. I scored it 149-142.

Tyson "KO" = I have never seen clear reputable tape of this fight. Tyson crew brought their own ring canvas and special shoes for Mike which allowed only Mike to get traction. Tubbs' great and slick footwork was thwarted by this chicanery. Allegedly there was a knockout out blow scored but on the grainy, jumpy copies of the film I have been able to attain there is nothing definitive.

Riddick Bowe decision. Robbery of the Century. Nothing more to be said. Tubbs outclassed, outscored and outworked the heir apparent.

Lionel Butler KO. A set up pure and simple. A glorified step aside.

Jimmy Ellis. Took the short money to please the home crowd and pay off bills. Not the first time in history this was done, but surely not a loss.

Jimmy Thunder- Friday Night Fights favorite heavyweight gets a gift. The network celebrates.

Zolkin - Whitey needed a title shot. Home cooking for the southpaw stiff.

Brian Neilson - Something smells fishy in Denmark.

Gilbert Martinez - No verifiable source for this fight having actually occurred. Boxrec is researching. Until then, not a legit loss.

Okine- Does West Virginia even have a commission? How can these results be trusted?

    Do you understand now?

If Witherspoon,Thomas,Tubbs,Page or Dokes had lived up to the potential of their abilities, the ageing Larry Holmes would have lost his unbeaten record quite a while before he actually did.
