Rate these chins

What logic is that? Jermaine Taylor is automatically a bigger puncher than Hopkins because he won two disputed decisions against him at Middleweight? :? I agree in that Froch's chin is definitely above average though.

 

First you say Kessler never has been tested against a great puncher and then you say Andrade hits hard :think You do know that Kessler fought Andrade right ?

I dont think Kessler deserves the same rating as Bute. Kessler has a great chin i never seen him rocked in his entire career. Bute was able to get back up on his feet against Andrade :happy but 10 seconds had passed

I don't consider a knock down to be an indictment on the chin. I consider the ability to get back up and be unphased by the knockdown to show you having a great set of whiskers.

In the case of Calzaghe, every single time he's been knocked down, he's come back and won the rest of the round - did it against Hopkins, did it against Jones Jr, Salem, Mitchell, etc.

In the case of Oscar, I think he's a guy who probably should never have fought higher than 147-154, I think of his chin as great, he's taken shots from some of the bigger punchers of his time.

Hopkins too, has an iron chin in my view.

Uh, yeah - so did Kessler, and unlike Bute, Kessler never once looked hurt by anything.

 

Librado Andrade and Shane Mosley have Iron chins. Calzaghe and Hopkins probably are the closest to iron on the list though.

 

Andrade has an iron chin for straight punches. He seems to be vulnerable to a good hook though, Yusaf Mack put him down and hurt him a few times with the hook. His resilience was incredible though.

Calzaghe and Hopkins have both faced guys with powerful hands, they've taken some big shots too - Calzaghe taking those uppercuts from Kessler should indicate how good his beard is.

Bute got hit a couple of time by Berrio who's a hell of a puncher and never look hurt! Andrade put Bute down because Bute was exhausted .

Agree about Calzaghe's chin. Check out the clip from his fight with Salem, he got caught with a peach of a shot about half way through but got up almost straight away.

i dont get why most of the people think gamboa has shaky chin seriously, yes he has been down sometimes but all of those knockdowns were because of he got caught off balance, and another one was a shoulder punch and none of them had him hurt seriously, because of the way he comes in(kind of jumping) he gets caught offbalanced but thats doesnt mean he has a bad chin, it just happen to go unbalanced thats it, from his start in the pros i havent seen any sign of a shaky chin, he has never been hurt but he has been knocked down because of what i explained and i dont think that make his chin shaky...

 

Eventually you get caught "off balance" so many times that you just can't parade around saying you've got a great chin. All great fighters wind up off balance at some point. Not all of them wind up on the canvas every other fight against low-tier fighters the way Gamboa has. Don't get me wrong, I love to watch Gamboa, I just don't believe his chin is even Average. Maybe he'll prove it otherwise, and I hope he does, but I just have to label it shaky until he can get himself standing on two feet for entire fights consecutively.

 

if u think thats true then why do u have gamboa as shaky?! no friggen logic in what u said. he has never been Hurt hurt. and jose rojas couldnt find him all night. gamboa really proved alot in the rojas fight.
