The following list: Sergio Martinez Miguel Cotto Antonio Margarito Nonito Donaire Donnie Nietes Roman Gonzalez Zab Judah Jose Luis Castillo Danny Garcia Sergey Kovalev Fernando Vargas Antonio Tarver Kelly Pavlik Ricky Hatton Timothy Bradley Dariusz Michalchevski
Didn't put all that much thought into it, but something like this. Nonito Donaire Roman Gonzalez Miguel Cotto Sergey Kovalev Sergio Martinez Timothy Bradley Antonio Tarver Kelly Pavlik Antonio Margarito Dariusz Michalczewski Fernando Vargas Donnie Nietes Danny Garcia Ricky Hatton Zab Judah Jose Luis Castillo
None of those are ATG.. The best of all of those to me is Roman Gonzales.Cotto and Donaire, Michalchevski at HOF.. Martinez and Hatton, Vargas, Margarito, Castillo, Bradley, Michalhevski borderline Hall of fame Judah, Garcia, Kovalev,Tarver, Pavlik all come up short.. Borderline HOF maybe, but I don't think they should get in so I put them at the bottom. If you want a list? Gonzales, Cotto, Donaire, Michalchavski, Martinez, Bradley, Nietes, Margarito, Hatton, Vargas, Kovalev, Tarver, Garcia, Judah, Pavlik I look at the big wins. Pavlik at the end? Lost to an old Hopkins. If he were at the top he should have had enough to beat Hopkins. Kovalev did. Although there is Tarver, who lost to Hopkins but had three fights with Jones. Judah? Entertaining.. but inconsistent. Danny Garcia. Does ok in a weak era. Like I said none of these guys are ATG, although I think the list was put there because these guys are sort of questioned as where they rank.
Sergio Martinez: Border HOF kind of a late bloomer decent title run at 160 Miguel Cotto: HOF though I take off some points for vacant titles and injury wins Antonio Margarito: While I think he legitimately beat Cotto I'm not sure he is HOF material. Nonito Donaire: HOF for sure, low weights are not my area of expertise might be borderline ATG for the sub 126 Donnie Nietes: Not enough information Roman Gonzalez: HOF Zab Judah: Not sure if he is HOF he was undisputed at 147 and held titles at 140 its close. Was a little too inconsistent Jose Luis Castillo: Fought Floyd on even footing, and beat Johnston and Diaz but got controversial wins vs Casamayor and Ngougo. I'd say border Danny Garcia: I like Garcia but he has some controversial wins and it seems he will take 1 quality guy then fight someone completely below his depth. While he was a legitimate and unified 140lb champion he came up short in his biggest fights vs Thurman a clear loss and Porter in a close one. I would say border line Sergey Kovalev: funny case going into the Ward fight I would say on pace to be HOF then he got stopped by Ward and Alvarez and Canelo and was on the verge vs Yarde. I think I'm letting present state get too much in my judgement Fernando Vargas: I dont know, his biggest wins were close and his losses were devastating. I dont know if he had enough fights or that one big win to push him into the hall Antonio Tarver: HOF worthy though he did mail it in vs Hopkins and Dawson Kelly Pavlik: Was a big fan but I feel like his time at the top was too short. His best wins Taylor and Miranda were awesome at the time but I'm not sure they have aged the best. I wouldnt argue anyone who would put him in but if I had a vote I'd say no Ricky Hatton: Big fan of Hatton not sure he has the resume for the HOF. Timothy Bradley: HOF Dariusz Michalchevski: HOF No definite ATG fighters and a bunch of possible HOF guys that could be argued either way. Only a few there that I would say definitely HOF material
Sergio Martinez - HOF Miguel Cotto - HOF Antonio Margarito -not HOF Nonito Donaire - HOF Donnie Nietes - borderline HOF Roman Gonzalez - ATG Zab Judah - Not HOF Jose Luis Castillo -borderline HOF Danny Garcia - Not HOF Sergey Kovalev - Not HOF Fernando Vargas - Not HOF Antonio Tarver- Not HOF Kelly Pavlik - Not HOF Ricky Hatton - Not HOF Timothy Bradley - Not HOF Dariusz Michalchevski - HOF
The following list: Sergio Martinez HOF Miguel Cotto borderline HOF Antonio Margarito not deserving HOF Nonito Donaire ATG Donnie Nietes borderline HOF Roman Gonzalez ATG Zab Judah not deserving HOF Jose Luis Castillo HOF Danny Garcia not deserving HOF Sergey Kovalev HOF Fernando Vargas not deserving HOF Antonio Tarver borderline HOF Kelly Pavlik not deserving HOF Ricky Hatton not deserving HOF Timothy Bradley borderline HOF Dariusz Michalchevski not deserving HOF
Personally, I think there's too many in the hall of fame. The Canastota hall of fame, there's too many there that shouldn't be in a legit hall of fame. So I am imagining a glorious fictitious HOF, where only the best of the best get in but due to politics a couple might sneak through the cracks...lol! Anyway if that list, they only fighters I would include would be : Cotto, Donaire, Gonzalez and Michalchevski.
Miguel Cotto-HOF Nonito Donaire-HOF Donnie Nietes- didn't see much of him Roman Gonzalez-ATG Antonio Tarver-Border HOF Ricky Hatton-Border HOF Timothy Bradley-HOF Dariusz Michalchevski- Border HOF
Like I said, it's far from perfect, but in the ballpark. Those three are interchangeable so I'm not going to argue against putting Castillo over both of them.
Castillo is hardly a greater fighter than Zab. Judah was 147 lbs world champion, and won titles in 2 weight classes. Both had their ups and downs, and for every Zab loss you can find Castillo's shortcomings. The only claim in Castillo's favor is his first fight vs Floyd.
