    Alternatively one could say the only real banger he met at heavyweight had him down for 14 seconds.
    Where are the punchers at any weight on his resume?
    For me his chin is unproven.
    Tunney fought 44 nobodies ,that's over two thirds of his resume!
    Name opponents?
    In 4 of his fights with Greb , a non puncher, he had the following weight advantages;
    12lbs,9lbs,9lbs, 14 lbs.
    Against Loughran10lbs.
    Against Smith13lbs.Gibbons was having his last fight.
    Carpentier was past it.
    Risko was green and a non puncher.
    Madden was a non puncher.
    Weinert was a non puncher.
    Spalla was Euro level ,and never stopped a class man.
    Levinsky was past prime ,and a non puncher.
    =Case for a top chin unproven.

    I read somewhere a few years ago (but can't remember where) that he was dazed in one of his heavyweight fights before facing Dempsey. I only had a vague recollection of this and wasn’t sure whether the opponent was Carpentier or possibly Gibbons... That's why I did a quick search on boxrec before posting.
    However, the fight against Carpentier was actually at LHW.
    Here’s what I found about the fight against Gibbons:

    “Tunney, however, didn't go through Gibbons without taking a few shots, and Tommy even dazed Tunney with a pair of terrific punches in the eighth.”
