No, he's not feather fisted, but his power is pretty average. No matter the weight, height or thechnique, he's clearly not a power puncher.
thank you!! i also believe punching power is something you have to be born with, i mean really, would anyone think this guy throws bombs just from looking at him: This content is protected
He has potentially average/above average power in proportion to his size but doesn't have a committed power punching style.
and im sure ALOT of people would think this guy can hit if they didn't know who he is: This content is protected
Must agree with this, Chris is feather fisted, and Valuev is a level above, that's make him average. Still far from being a good puncher.
I'm pretty sure we're talking about boxing here and not physics. When we talk about punching power in boxing we talk about something practical... Valuev lacks technique, he lacks speed and he lacks follow-through. He pushes his jabs and he sweeps with his hooks; there's barely any snap to what he throws, dare I say he even pulls half of his punches for some unknown reason. Most HW's would find it discomforting to get hit by Valuev because a punch from a 320lb. man hurts, but Valuev's punches are so predictable and slow that at the top level most guys can avoid or roll with them. So there's is the crux of it, at the top level Valuev's power has proven itself to be average at best.
When he gets all in his weight into it and lands, he has very good power. Which he rarely will be able to do, because you would have to be blind or have seriously slow reactions, to be hit with one of those trucks.
we're talking boxing, but you can't ignore physics. yes, for the reasons u stated, Valuev isn't an effective power puncher. But can he deliver a very powerful HW punch: yes he just doesn't accomplish it very frequently because of the aforementioned.
