Better against BOXERS - Wlad Better against SLUGGERS - hard to say, Vitali has the chin and more relaxed, Wlad better technically Better against SWARMERS - see above Better Jab - Wlad easy Better Cross - Wald easy Better Hook - Wlad very easy - doesnt use it anymore Better Combinations - Wlad - doesnt throw them anymore Better Uppercut - Neither use it, a weakness in both Better 1 punch POWER - Wlad Better overall punching accuracy - both pretty accurate Better handspeed - Wlad Better footspeed - Wlad, but Vitali has a radar defense Better defense - Before Vitali, now close, Vitali has a lean back defense where as Wlad uses a high guard and movement, so it depends to what style More Aggressive - Vitali now, Wlad used to be aggressive Better punch resistance (chin) - Vitali Better endurance - debatable, Wlad fainted against Brewster and Purrity, he paces himself better now, Vitali faded down the stretch against Byrd and was fading against Lewis, he too has paced himself well but against low output opponents. Both are very fit Better finisher - depends what you mean, Vitali more aggressive and goes for kos, Wlad the better puncher More adaptable (able to change plans DURING a fight) - Vitali because Wlad can panic but Vitali hasn't really had to adapt, he's either lost or not adapted Better technician - Wlad Cleaner (fewer fouls) - Wlad pushes opponents down, excessively clinches so him
I think Vitali is the better combination puncher and clearly the more adaptable of the two. I wonder what you mean by more adaptable? Because Vitali has amazing ring generalship in my opinion. His ability to dictate pace, distance, who leads and who counters is really extradorinary to watch. But at the same time Wlad is more fundamentally sound, i.e. better balance, crisper footmovement, doesn't arm punch, and is more accurate. Hope that helps.
The most difficult category was defense. Wlad is better defensively on a technical standpoint. But both fighters have a lot to be desired when it comes to defense. Wlad's so reactive that you can set him up with something wild but he rarely gives you chances. Vitali is a lot more unconventional as far as his footwork, punching, and defense are concerned. However, he probably gets hit less. So in the more important sense, you could say his defense is better. But against lesser opposition. So it's really hard to say. At the same time, Vitali punches more and his a higher punch-output so he's much more countable. I would have to say Wlad, though. Vitali's hands are just far too low, especially that lead hand. He'd be absolutely vulnerable to any quick, athletic, strong right handed fighter.
Both Klitschkos use a stinging lefthook when the opponents duck low and try to jab or set up a 1-2. This lefthook comes from nowhere. Brilliant spacer! Both have excellent hand-eye coordination, controlling the distance. Larry is impressed by the handspeed of both big guys too. They are brothers but so different in every possible way. Quite a unique moment to have 2 brothers stand on the top alone today. A new breed of Heavyweights who would be competitive in any given era folks. Your Larry
