I've seen alot of people saying the guy can't punch because of his fights with Ouma and Spinks. I actually think his power is underrated and is actually one of the best punchers at 168. The guy put Kelly down and almost had him out. He had Froch down as well for the first time of his career. I would like to get ESB's opinion of him as a puncher.
He has real solid power, but he just sometimes lacks the ability to land real clean power punches with the right. But when he does, he hurts guys... and guys who normally don't get hurt bad (Pavlik , Froch ) .. I rate him toward the top of the tournament in power.
Probably kinda hard to stay focused when he's gassed after six rounds and looking like he has fought 12 already.
IMO Taylors power is very underated. He dropped Froch with a glancing blow, but the shots he caught Pavlik with in the second round of the first fight would have finished most other MW's/SMW's. He may not have the one punch power to stop AA but im certain he could force a stoppage.:good
His gas tank would immediately run dry if he tried to throw 25 power punches in a row against that tight defensive shell AA uses. Shortly thereafter he would get KTFO once Arthur opens up on him.
Taylor has weird punching power that kinda reminds me of Kendall Holt. They both seem to be erratic punchers that happen to be more powerful against the better fighters they face and less powerful against lesser opposition. It's ****ing strange. :huh
I'd say he has pretty good power, but that Ouma fight is a real puzzler. By all accounts he should have put him down, but couldn't.
i agree he has very good/underrated power. he can put his man down as he has shown...it just seems that he can't finish off his man once he's hurt.
His problem is not power but stamina and accuracy. JT has enough power to be a threat for the first half of a fight.
