Dreadful, Chinese torture, water boarding, I am surprised I bothered to continue to watch til' the end. I was spoiled in my youth by fights like Bowe-Holyfield, Moorer-Cooper, Morrison-Ruddock, etc. The heavyweight division is so dull, boring, predictable, staid now.
There's a much bigger question here. Why is it that undefeated prospects, guys who are given a chance for upset even, FREEZE in front of Vitali? I heard it said once by a HW contender who sparred with him. "He looks easy to defeat on tape but impossible to solve once you get in the ring with him."
If you wanted to see a REAL heavy weight fight tonight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96KfeAFakak[/ame]
Good vid. Real heavyweights. Hey Flatlander, how is your "relative" Chrissy Byrd? Who is he fighting next at Cruiser?
Fights like that always happened. When people think of the glorious 90's, all they remember is Holyfield - Bowe and forget Lewis - Akinwande, when Akinwande was even DQ'd for passivity.
That man will go to his grave saying, "VK couldn't knock me out." "You looked bad though." "So! I was so fast... and so..." "Grand Daddy pleas. If you so fast? Pass the macaroni and cheese." "I was bad!"
He shouldn't. Man it broke my heart to see him in his last fight. He had that same drained look that Jones and DLH had during the fights. Great guy. Live it up with the family!
Yes, it's very average for a 38-year-old 240+ pound, 6'7 inch man to throw over a thousand punches in a fight. I see it all the goddamn time myself.
I thought Vitali was good. Johnson is quicker than him and refused to engage whatsoever, so I put 99% of the blame at this feet. Johnson was an embarrassment and hopefully will not have his next fight on HBO. All I ask is that guys show up prepared and try to win. He seemed prepared but did not make any attempt to actually take the title, and I can't celebrate his performance because of that.
