Rating Mayweather - objectively

Ray Leonards chin was solid yet was seriously wobbled. Duran wasn't chasing shadows in either this fight or the 'no mas' fight and Leonard is quicker and a better boxer than Floyd.

Lets look at it this works out, the Floyd at 135 who struggled with JJC's sparring partner against the best 135 ever??

I don't see it going 10 rounds.

 

I don't think Leonard at 147 is quicker than Mayweather at 135 and I really can't say he is a better boxer either.

 

Mayweather and rating him objectively? #1 most paid athlete but tbe, gtfo

 

Mayweather is not this ultra finesse boxer, he is ultra elusive.

 

You overestimate Duran and you severely underestimate PBF. PBF hasn't quit Duran has PBF hasn't loss Duran has. Much lesser fighters than PBF have beaten or gone 12 or 15 rounds with Duran.:deal

 

Just depends on whether or he can hurt Floyd, if he can I think he can win by TKO if not, which I doubt to be honest, then Duran would win a decision on activity and volume. One thing Duran would love to do is to get Floyd into a fight.

 

So I take it you rank PBF ahead of Duran is that correct?

Fact is Duran is pretty much acknowledged as the best lightweight ever, and he would maul PBF at 135. I've seen way too many of both their fights to arrive at any other conclusion. Hell even Floyd's dad say Duran would be a mother ****er to fight.

The man had over 100 fights and fought 4 to 5 times a year , you are going to lose a few.

No one is 'severely underestimating' Floyd , just pointing out that he fought 4 fights at 135 against B to B+ level fighters and arguably lost once.

Put this against the best 135 fighter ever , who I don't think is being 'overestimated' and then you have a result.

 

Fair enough. PBF was injured going into that fight and it was his first fight at 135 and was outweighed by 15 pounds on fight night when healthy in the rematch he won clearly. I don't have a problem with you saying Duran beats him I do with saying he stops him. Nothing in PBF's career has suggested that he would be stopped especially with ATG defense.

floyd is just overrated in atg status. his resume does not say he dominated his division during his prime just to consider he has a truly great skill. even at higher weights when he has the advantages over his opponents, still he did not dominate. he had a hard fight against lower level fighters and even sucker punched ortiz just to avoid getting hurt more.

 

I don't rate him as the Best or the Greatest Ever, but those are two different things entirely. The best I've seen at his peak was Roy Jones, but he's nowhere near the greatest in terms of actual accomplishments inside the ring, which is what greatness is based on.
