Rating the 4 Kings,pound for pound.......!

I really don't wanna get into this because I fear my obsessive Hagler streak might overcome me when it really REALLY shouldn't in this debate.

 

well out of the four Hagler was physically the strongest. Hearns was the hardest puncher. Leonard the most complete and Duran the luckiest.

 

In the end though,Hearns was the toughest. None of them could ever reach him at Lt Heavyweight,I think even cruiserweight.. He even carried his power there with decent effectiveness. Naturally bigger than the other three.

 

There all great and they all made each other who they were, Duran is way way overrated on this forum,but he damn sure was great what he did to Davey Moore was a thing of beauty,they all were as great as you can find.

Hearns-his overall body of work is the best of all of them,he pretty much changed Ray into a part time superfighter and punished him some more in the 2nd fight,he nearly killed Duran and he made Hagler easier pickings for Leonard,and Hagler knew better to give him a rematch and the 1st 4 and 5 weight division Champion he is a fighter that makes boxing such a special sport,he really cared about the fans,after all fans is what makes sports so great.

Leonard- is the original fighter politician he layed the blueprint for guys RJJ and PBF he fought everyone on his terms and ducked Aaron Pryor his constant retirements were ludacris and he thought he was above the sport he made a bunch of fans not like him he was a very selfish athlete but 1 of the most special 1's,but his wins over all four men were undeniable,no matter what you think of him as a person.

Hagler-a man with 14 title defenses at middleweight,but with not many note worthy opponents he needed the rest of these guys without them his legacy would'nt be nearly as high,fought a perfect fight against Hearns for the talent he had,if he would have negotiated right with Leonard and took the smaller ring and the 15 rounds he would have stopped Leonard,but he chose the money,these fight were his biggest paydays so its tough to blame him,but i thought he still won the fight,it was a thing of beauty what he to Mugabi,very impressive,a very bitter man,i dont like the way he just quit and walked away from the sport,but he is the best Middleweight of all time.

Duran-A monster fighter at lightweight,which is where he was best at,a brilliant win against SRL in their 1st fight,he quit in the 2nd fight that really counts ahead against him for me.He fought well against Hagler,he also lost to Benitez,and he got starched by Hearns and he put a mean whuppin on Davey Moore.What made him so special welterweight and above was not his weight,and he still was the only of these guys to beat Leonard on record,he still fought great at these weights,he may be overrated but his greatness you cant deny.

 

Duran obviously leads. #5 on my p4p list. Duran is up there with Dempsey, Liston, Hagler, and Tyson

Next comes Hagler right behind at #6. Probably the most impressive performer in his own weight class. At his peak was the perfect creation, the best thing that ever lived.

Hearns comes in at #38 followed by leonard at 47. His short resume and poor performance vs the speedsters Camacho & Norris hurt his standing tremendously

There's no way i can give him nunber #5 he lost convincingly to all of them and he lost to Benitez,and he quit in the ring,that is not top 5 material,great yes but not that great.:-deal

 

you must remember that Duran started at bantam. His best weight was 135 and he rose to 147 beating SRL at age 29. So Duran was at a disadvantage and still competitive. Put the shoe on the other foot and its not likely the other 3 do as well. Maybe Hagler tho becuz he was extra great like Ali

 

I understand that,i stated that a few posts back,and yes what he did against SRL was 1 of the greatest feats in boxing of all time,but it does not erase that fact that he lost to all of them and Benitez,and he quit in the ring because he was outskilled.Hearns did do what Duran did moving up in weight and he done it better,you guys rank him high for what he did at lightweight,yet none of wins there were greater than the 1 over Leonard,yet he fought his best comp at the higherweights were he lost most of the time,and he ducked arguello when he was at lighweight,its kind of contradictive what makes you people rate him so high.:huh
