MIKE TYSON Mighty Mike - Iron Mike - Kid Dynamite - The Baddest Man on the Planet 1) POWER - 9 Obviously had natural KO power but he needed an explosive physique and style to reach his apex. 2) PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES - 7 As mentioned above he needed an explosive physique to become a successful heavyweight. He was stocky and short, and if not for the height disparity he'd be an 8. 3) HANDSPEED, COMBINATION PUNCHING & ACCURACY - 10 Tyson relied on his handspeed and combination punching to beat his opponents, overwhelming them. 4) FOOTWORK - 9 He needed alot of footwork to cut corners and overwhelm his opponents, which, when matched and used with his phenom handspeed makes him an ATG in my book. 5) DEFENSE - 9 The bob-and-weave style was ALMOST perfected by Tyson and even out of his prime condition and state still showcased some first-rate head movement. Combined with his high guard, he was quite impervious 6) DURABILITY - 8.5 Although he has been knocked out and stunned, you have to take into consideration Tyson went 12 full rounds with Holyfield (1st and 2nd meeting), 7 full with Lewis, 18 full with dangerous puncher Ruddock, and was constantly taking blows from Douglas for 9 full rounds. 7) HEART - 9 As mentioned above, you need some willpower to stay standing against Holyfield, Lewis, Ruddock and Douglas. 8) KILLER INSTINCT - 10 Mike knew if you were hurt or staggered, and he would continue to beat you 'til the referee jumps in or you start slumping on the ropes. A high killer instinct creates knockout reels. 9) ENDURANCE - 8 Although Tyson has gone 12 rounds a couple of times, Tyson has shown he slowly fades into the later rounds of a fight. Slipping punches, weaving hooks and counterpunching, while stalking your opponent requires alot of energy compared to the stick-and-move. 10) RING GENERALSHIP - 8 Tyson could manipulate the fight into his favor by moving alot, closing the distance, and making his adversaries miss punches. However, against other cream-of-the-crop opposition, he couldn't keep the fight under his conditions for a prolonged period of time. OVR: 87.5 / 100
John The Quiet Man Ruiz 1. Power : 9 KO'd 40 our of 44 opponents 2. Physical attributes : 10 Still holds the Decathlon record at Chelsea High School, including a prodigious 6-8 high jump 3. Handspeed, combination punching and accuracy : 9 Used the full arsenal and invented some new tools on top of that. Could move from classic boxer to brawler with seamless effort. A liquid fighter blessed in all regards. 4. Footwork : 9 Was always exactly where he needed to be. Except for that one time. 5. Defense : 9 Impervious. Except for that one time. 6. Durability : 10 Extremely hard to stop. Except for that one time. 7. Heart : 14 He carried two hearts into the ring. His and Normy's. You can't top that. 8. Killer instinct : 10 Killed with love. Every time. 9. Endurance : 10 I have endured his entire career DVD set many times. 10. Ring generalship 10. The greatest champion of the Aughts by owning the ring every time out. Controlled pace, style, and output. Except for that one time. 100. Perfect. He was the perfect heavyweight.
Muhammad Ali 1. Power : 8 Underrated power. He buckled the durable Liston's knees in the first round of their first fight. Stopped Bonavena with one big left hook and Oscar had twice gone the distance vs Frazier. One of the 2 men to stop prime Ron Lyle and the only man to have stopped Foreman and Bonavena. His right cross was underrated and he could throw a hard lead right cross which is an underrated skill. His left hook was strong too. Not the best at throwing uppercuts but not bad too. 2. Physical attributes : 9 3. Hand speed, combination punching and accuracy : 9.5 Had outstanding hand speed (10/10) and threw blistering and creative combinations. See Foreman and Liston fights. Very accurate too. The only reason he isn't getting a 10 is because he didn't mix his combinations to include lots of body shots but that is a minor complaint. Was a very accurate puncher too. 4. Footwork : 10 Quickest heavyweight that ever lived. 5. Defense : 9 In his prime, perhaps slightly open to a left hook. But outside of the Cooper knockdown when he got careless, 6. Durability : 10 Excellent chin and took a body shot better than anyone 7. Heart : 10 8. Killer instinct : 8 9. Endurance : 10 10. Ring generalship: 9 Great ring general. Its just that sometimes he didn't make the right adjustment and relied more on his amazing improvisational ability instead. Overall score: 92.5 out of 100.
Foreman 1. Power : 10 2. Physical attributes : 9 3. Hand speed, combination punching and accuracy : 8 Threw some really terrific combinations in his prime that get underrated. Not the most accurate when young but more than people give him credit for. His hand speed wasn't great though far from slow. 4. Footwork : 8 He had quick feet when young. Ali felt he couldn't outrun him and even a 32 year old Ali is quicker than most heavies. 5. Defense : 6 Very open to straight right hand which Ali exploited. On the other hand, he blocked or partially blocked majority of Frazier's left hooks. 6. Durability : 9.5 Excellent chin. Only knocked down 3 times and stopped once through taking lots of cumulative damage. 7. Heart : 10 The Lyle fight showed his heart. 8. Killer instinct : 10 9. Endurance : 8 Not as bad as made out to be. Zaire was outdoors and in extreme heat. 10. Ring generalship: 7 Certainly showed good ring generalship at times but also got wreckless at times aka Lyle. Overall score: 85.5 out of 100.
All respect, Wilder knocked down Fury five times total and had his eyes rolling up in his head on several occasions. The second time he knocked him down he by all visual accounts knocked him out (the ref gave him a lot more leeway to get up than most would). And that happened while Fury while still considered prime. I respectfully agree to disagree.
Ali had underrated power but when he started fighting at the top level not sure about a 8. Against heavier opponents his KO rate drastically went down also. Some of it maybe due to him being past his best but still.
