Mate the process they use for selecting referees is designed to have some control over them.

A system of Classes A.B. & C with a relegation process is used in every other sport,,,,where they want their game to be seen as being straight.

With this system we have,, some of the best ref's we have are perishing in the wings.
They've got judges getting 20-30-40 gigs a year while others are not making enough to pay for their licences.

It seems that if you've actually been in the ring, it counts against you.
    It's flat out corrupt.

how do you reckon? Garry Dean, Les Fear, Brad Griffith, Alan Moore, Brad Vocale and Malcolm all could not argue about the work they get (I assume you mean pros only so I won't mention those that fought as lilly-whites). There is only one I can think of and it is not his time in the ring that is held against him but the fact he won't kiss the arses of those that be down south. Trev Christian is sick, John Wright has retired who else is there that you feel is getting a hard deal?

Mate I don't want to name names, there is enough back-biting, but it wouldn't be necessary to do a count if a rotating system was in place.

I don't know everything but i am not a ass kisser like yourself who can't see the truth that refs today are a JOKE in all sports. Anyone who has 1 good eye can see that.

"every official has an off night, doesn't mean they are crap - means they had an off night." Oh ok so by saying that you are saying it's ok for them to ruin a fighters life by not giving them the full chance to win.

No I'm not you ****ing idiot! What I am saying is exactly that - a ref is human and will make mistakes, the good ones try and limit them and I think anyone that makes a mistake that affects a young fighters career would be mortified!
Richard Steele, Mitch Halpern among others all made monumental clangers that made world headlines; doesn't damage their overall legacy does it? Mitch is directly responsible for the death of Jimmy Garcia - he was considered by many the best in the world at the time of his death.
If you really think we have no good refs in this country then you have a massive chip on your shoulder or just plain don't know what you are talking about.
Either way, go and join your local governing body as I can't wait for you to show the world how it's really done! LMAO

    Okay, I'll try again!

    Brian McMahon 5/10

Having more off nights than acceptable.

Getting way too slow and seems reluctant to make the hard calls.

Lovely bloke, but the time has come imo to step down.

Refs are no different to fighters.

Fighters have bad nights, get caught, and get KOed.

Refs have a bad night and the forum kicks the sh_t out of them.

Phil Austin number 1 by a mile here in oz, only boxing ref that i like besides phil is in the Ametuers in the VABL, similar style to phils. In control, gives the fighters a heads up with warnings etc and no B.S.

Have to admit Phil Austin certainly does know his stuff. (and no I'm not him).

Don't see a lot of the banana bender refs, but I remember seeing one on fox a little while ago absolutely screaming at Matt Powell to get back to a neutral corner after some indescretion. Can't remember who he fought but I think he got dq'd or quit.

The ref wasn't a big bloke but he wasn't copping any of Powell's crap.

On a serious note though, we have some good ref's in this country, Austin, Vocale, Gritthis, Dean, Hedgecock and probably another few ive forgotten.
And like Mr Smutt said, All ref's have bad night as there only human.
As long as 99% of there work is good then you can't Punish them over one bad night. If it is a continuel thing then it needs adressing IMO.
