It just seems like to get one good fight, we have to accept 10 mediocre/crap fights. Are we the most gullible fans of all sports, who will invest time if not money in what we know will be substandard and likely to be underwhelming? At the moment its very much a case of "it's better than nothing..."

Whats the solution? You've seen the raw hatred between Haymon and Arum which is hindering the biggest fight in boxing bar Joshua-Wilder; Spence v Crawford. So this problem will be around for a while...

Plus in the last few weeks to months we had some good to great fights with Carrol vs Farmer, Donehy vs Martinez, Estrada vs Rungvisai II. We also had a great KO by Donaire.

Hell even good controversial fights like Munguia and Hogan

The quantity of quality fights has been on the slide for years considering 90s>00s>10s. Hopefully the 20s can buck the trend.

It's not even so much the fighters as it is promoters. Look at Joshua, haven't yet fought Wilder or Fury. LHWs? Nobody's really fighting each other there.

WWs is even worse, TC and Spence fighting nobodies. Mikey or Davis hasn't fought Loma yet. Good fights could happen. But they're not.

Commentary and general boxing knowledge and history has all gone downhill. Commentators really do not know anything about boxing technique, methods, strategies and constantly moan and deride opponents.

It's very similar to football (soccer) commentary these days, it is completely degrading one team until they score a goal and then totally brown nosing until they concede a goal.

I personally find it extremely difficult to listen to commentary for any sports these days. It is simply unbearable and really irks me. Maybe I am getting too old to soon but it really does my head in.

Every time I try to enjoy Boxing on Sky, that flipping idiot Adam Smith starts bellowing down the mic like a complete flipping idiot. It ruins my mood and interest in the sport.

It's pretty bad, the welterweights and the heavyweights spend most of their time avoiding one another.

Well, 25-30 years ago we were only able to see a small fraction of all the fights, that took place back then.

Today we can watch most fights from around the world, either on TV or via a live stream we find on the net... or, at the very least, we can watch it on YouTube the following day.

So when today both good and bad boxing is everywhere… isn't it possible, that the boxing that was made available to us pre-YouTube, was predominantly the good stuff, with little attention being given to the more meaningless fights?

Anyway, today's boxing fans should stop moaning and count themselves lucky, that they are able to watch almost every big fight that takes place around the world. If only I had been this lucky, when I was a young fan!
