Co-feature to Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao vs. Adrien Jerome Broner on the 19th. The vacant WBC bantamweight title will be at stake. This actually is a rematch of sorts. They fought in the London Olympics in 2012 and Oubaali was victorious by a scant edge 19:18, before Michael Conlan subsequently eliminated him in the quarterfinals in what I personally considered a robbery of the Moroccan-French southpaw counter-puncher.
Oubaali's coming out party, he's perhaps the most underrated/unheard of guy in the lower divisions. He's a brilliant fighter and is going to split Beetlejuice's wig something gruesome.
His pro campaign has been unheralded and with little fanfare IMO largely because he didn't medal in 2012 but honestly if he weren't screwed against Conlan it wouldn't have been inconceivable that he could have gone all the way and nabbed gold. I thought at the time that Oubaali vs. Robeisy Ramirez Carrazana was a 50-50 proposition:
Honestly this could end up being a VERY bad night for Team America, with all three US representatives in the world championship triple-header (Broner, Warren, and Browne) getting KTFO. In fact that's my expectation.
Oubaali because Rau'shee is a stupid ass name and Oobaali sounds like the name of a bad ass Somali pirate (yes, I know he's a Frenchman).
Y'all think Badou can win? I'm not sold on him fully yet as a truly world class top operator. Browne isn't that good either but for some reason I think he can KO Jack.
BOXING legends Roy Jones Jr. (Hmm.. ''legendary'' glass jaw, yes)) and Nonito Donaire are in no doubt Nordine Oubaali will be successful in his bid to become world champion on January 19. Bantamweight Oubaali (14-0-KO11) clashes with Rau’shee Warren in Las Vegas for the WBC world title and after a fantastic spar with Donaire, hopes the famous belt is heading to France are high. Both boasting world titles in FOUR weight divisions, both Donaire and Jones Jnr are in buoyant mood in Oubaali’s camp. Donaire said after the spar: “Nordine is an amazing fighter and I think he’ll become world champion in this fight. “His power is something you really feel when you’re in there with him and I really think he’s going to go in there and do a good job.” Jones Jr added: “To see two world class guys go in and for Nonito to come and help Nordine out, you don’t find better people in the world than that. “These guys are my favourites. These are the type of people who come through when you need it. No southpaw would give him rounds but Nonito came through and he gave him rounds. “Nordine did a great job and he’s on point. Thanks to Nonito for coming through – now Nordine is ready to go and become champion of the world.” Donaire replied: “I’m humbled, Roy!”
