“I’ve been with Manny for like 12 years, maybe more. People just know what they see on TV or what they read on the Internet or in the magazines. But Manny is actually a lightweight. He’s a lightweight fighting at welterweight. That’s what a lot of people don’t know. “They say, ‘Oh, Manny’s not the same. He’s not knocking people out.’ It’s hard to knock big guys out. They can take the punches better. There’s a lot of things people don’t know. A lot of people just follow what they see on social media and whatever they read. But Horn was way too big, and I think Manny should be fighting at 140. Manny would destroy anybody at 140.” “I think he has made such a big name that his situation kind of demands for him to be at 147,” Beltran said. “All the fans look at him as a welterweight. I think that’s his situation. But I believe Manny could easily make 140 and 135. And Manny would be a killer, a monster at that weight.”
2 weeks out from the Mayweather fight, Manny was 144. He was 147 at the weigh in, which lends credence to the claim that he has to eat a ton to make welterweight.
We all know this, Manny could've stayed at LW let alone JWW. He's a little guy. Him dropping at this stage wouldn't do much, he's on his last legs. I think he's top 5 in any division he'd compete at (top 10 at WW, there's some killers at the top) but even the lower weights there's some guys out there now that could make things rough in the ring for him despite his class.
At welterweight, I have Spence and Crawford ahead of him. I think even now he defeats Thurman, Garcia (definitely), and Porter. At junior welterweight, I see him ruling. He'd beat Mikey, Prograis, Taylor, Broner, etc..
Not the Pac that fought Horn (and I thought he beat Horn). He's maybe 50/50 with Danny, Everyone else mentioned man handles him (literally) at WW. JWW I agree with you (I count Mikey as a LW and think Mikey wins at this stage), but there are a few guys at LW that would be stiff comp for him.
