Perfect reffing of the Shobox undercard tonight. THAT is how you give a fighter a chance to turn the tide, while still respecting his future health. Lesser refs stop that fight after the second knockdown. Castaneda proves his heart, DeMarco doesn't have to hear about any "what ifs". Well done. :good

100 percent agree. That's how refs SHOULD handle fights. Let the fight go to its natural conclusion. :yep

How about the fights where it gets really brutal, but the fighter taking a beating refuses to go down? You okay with a ref stoppage there?

As long as a guy is still throwing with meaningful power, the ref needs to step aside. I don't like seeing needless punishment, but Castaneda was a threat tonight at every moment up to the stoppage. Perfect timing from Corona.

Of course. That didn't happen tonight because the ref did his job superbly.

Sure. A good example of this was that fight last week where Feliciano was getting pasted all fight long and the ref waved it off after he got rocked. I didn't have any argument with that one.

    Agreed.

The Andy Lee stoppage was a prime example of a premature stoppage. The ref stepped in a second after he landed a good punch:patsch

That was one of the most ridiculous stoppages I've seen in some time. RIDICULOUSLY premature. I happen to think that Lee probably would have lost anyway, but what the ref did is really rob the other fighter of his clear victory.

The Dirrell-Hanshaw stoppage wasn't anywhere near that bad, but it was a tad premature, I thought. But then, you can see I'm a bit "old school" on this.:yep

I haven't seen the Dirrell stoppage yet, but if it looked anything like the end of the fourth round, it was the right call. Hanshaw wasn't offering a damn thing in return, mainly because Dirrell is too damn fast.

Um, this guy is something when he's coming forward throwing power shots. Wow.
