The "ultimatum" may just have been Pac's final straw. Who wouldn't be pissed if given one? I heard that pac was supposedly scheduled to fly to the US this Friday to finalize the negotiation, but both Arum and Hatton's camp obviously couldn't care less.

only if you're a total idiot

to anyone with a brain, an ATG, first ballot Hall of famer, incumbent fighter of the year, 5 times world champion, 3 time linear champion, p4p #1 in the world, offering a non-Hall of Famer who is naturally much bigger than him and has everything to prove 40% of the purse is completely legit.

Pacman deserves more than Hatton considering what Pacquiao has done for the sport of boxing. Like I said, listen to Barack Obama...he speaks the truth! :D

They've been saying that they have given everything that Manny wants, but report says that Arum is just offering 52/48 purse split. But manny was adamant that he could only consider a 55/45 split.

They're fighting a great fighter in manny and they are asking for an equal split?

Manny is just asking for respect that's why he's asking for a slightly bigger share of the pie. He has accomplished so much that Hatton could only dream of at this point in his career.

Hatton has been saying that he has a huge fan base and they would follow him whereever he fights. Then, why did his fight against malignaggi not full in terms of live gate? why was it not shown in PPV in the US? why did the UK PPV hits for that fight still not divulged up to this point? Is it because it did not do well? Isn't he fighting a very popular fighter in malignaggi at that time? It would be concluded then that hatton can only generate huge revenues if he's fighting the best and popular fighter as well.

The way I see it, the hatton camp is the reason why the fight is off. They think so highly of themselves that's why they asked for an equal share.

Hatton is just a good fighter while Pacquiao is a great fighter.

Hatton agreed to 60/40, with him getting the UK ppv money. You're telling me that was unfair?

Hatton agreed to 60/40 before Christmas but he had all the UK rights. Arum told Manny to change it to 50/50 and split the UK rights. Hatton agreed to that deal but since 2009 Manny wanted 60/40 and split the UK rights with Ricky. Remember Pacquiao would be making the most money in his career for this fight and he is still turning it down...crazy! If Pacquiao/Mayweather isn't on the cards next then this is one dumb move.

You have to think of this from a long-term perspective.

From Hatton's POV, a win over Manny will double his drawing power, by adding the international market to the UK market that he already has in his pocket. On the other hand, a loss to Manny will not change anything, since the British fans will shell out the pounds for Hatton regardless of his performances in the ring.

From Manny's POV, the situation is the opposite. If he beats Hatton, his fanbase is the same. The UK fans will not support him any more for obvious reasons, and his international fanbase will remain largely the same since Hatton is not that well regarded outside the UK. He's a good fighter, but not as good as many of Manny's other scalps. On the other hand, if Manny loses to Hatton, its a devastating loss. Most of Manny's fans (the paying ones) are fans because of his quality as a fighter, not because of his personality and definately not cause of his background.

So basically its a no-lose situation for Hatton, and a no-win situation for Pacquiao.

Hatton should take the purse cut and be happy about the opportunity he is presented with.

If Pacquiao is not gonna get the lion's share of the purse against Hatton, then WTF is in it for him?

The purse isn't necessarily about credentials. It's about drawing power. Pacquiao is not a 60/40 draw over Hatton.
