I decided to score this fight. I watched it in 3 sections on you tube by typing in Sugar Ray vs Roberto Duran 2.

    My scores:

    D L
    Round 1 10 10
    Round 2 9 10
    Round 3 10 10
    Round 4 9 10
    Round 5 10 9
Round 6 10 10 Clowning is not fighting
    Round 7 10 10

Score when Duran quit - Leonard 69 Duran 68. That is a very close fight.

If you watch try scoring and see if you disagree with me.

Try not to be like that one judge in the first fight, and try to pick a winner for the rounds.

I haven't seen the fight, but read plenty about it. One thing I don't understand is how a lot of people seem to just explain Duran's giving up away as some mistake, like it was a do-over or something, and don't fault him for it. This is just wrong. It was a huge fight, and he should have lived up to the name he tried so hard and so long to make. No excuses here. This is boxing. You're either a tough guy or you aren't. Most of the excuses for Duran are made up by the Leonard haters anyway, so you have to take their talk with that grain of salt I guess.

The very best score anyone could give for Duran fairly and objectively would be down 5 rounds to 2 (68-65) or 4 rounds to 3 (67-66).

I think even the biggest Duran fans on here, Stonehands, Nick Hudson, and myself among others, would freely admit Duran was behind on points at the time of the stoppage.

I would say Duran was down by quite a bit. Leonard fought a much smarter fight this time around. Didn't fight Duran's fight.

The judges scorecards at the time of the stoppage are as follows: Mike Jacobs 66-68 | judge: Jean Deswerts 66-68 | judge: James Brimmell 66-67.

The first two judges 4-2-1 and the last judge 4-3.

A good judge gives every round to someone. There is always something that a fighter does that edges his opponent. There's so many aspects of boxing. Take this into consideration and score it again

    I agree with the above.
To give 4 rounds even is a farce !!

This is how I see it. Even if you gave Duran some close rounds, Leonard was in the lead.

I agree that Duran was just one round down at the point of him quitting. I haven't seen the fight for a few years but I think Duran had quite a good round before he quit as well.
