What do you mean by "went in to the trenches better"? Leonard worked best from the outside, while running and moving.

I'm starting to think you've either never seen enough of Duran or you really don't know what you're talking about. At 38 Mayweather is fighting an over the hill Pac and Duran was fighting Barkley. Mayweather get in the ring with a guy like Hagler, not ****ing likely.

As to Mayweather never really been in trouble at any point in his career, if an over the hill SSM can hurt Mayweather, Duran certainly could and very likely would.

Actually SRL was one of the few fighters who could do either very well. I don't know why anyone would pick Floyd to be honest. He's a guy who started out at 130 and SRL was always at 147 or higher, and has been called by many as the 2nd best welterweight of all time. Add to that I can't even fathom under any circumstances how Floyd would beat Hearns, and SRL is simply out of his league. Not necessarily in a p4p sense but at 147 there's little doubt.

I've seen plenty Duran, recently too. But I suspect that unlike a lot of you, I've seen most of his defeats, which makes it hard for me to take people seriously when they talk about him like some indomitable monster.

And my point stands: Duran never stopped an elite 147-lber (or anyone bigger); Floyd is elite and has ATG defensive skills.

Never picked Floyd but I explained why I wouldn't be at all surprised if he outboxed Leonard. People take his defensive greatness for granted. He's a textbook example of someone who would be worshipped by purists if he'd fought in the 1940s instead of the 2000s. Don't see the relevance but I agree Hearns would be damn near impossible for Floyd (I don't think Leonard would have beat Hearns again either though).

Leonard easily. Leonard actually throws combinations unlike Floyd.

I'm from the camp that thinks Mayweather is very under rated. Ray might need Dundee in his corner to prevent the upset.

If Ray could do what he did to Benitez and make him look totally ineffective at times then he could do the same thing to Mayweather. Benitez was as slippery as they come.

Never been in trouble? Tell that to his knees in the Mosely fight. Had Mosley not basically quit immediately after that one punch and stopped throwing the fight might have been different. Jesus, can you imagine Duran smelling blood?

Not as slippery as Mayweather. I don't get why so many folks are unable/unwilling to recognize Floyd's defensive greatness.

Right. Floyd gets stunned with a hard punch and does a leg wobble and folks are on here saying that a man who's never knocked out an elite fighter at 147 or above would stop him. I mean, granted Floyd's no Zeferino Gonzalez or Jimmy Heair or Luigi Minchillo but come on...I think he finds a way to survive against Duran.

(And for the record, Duran doesn't have the hand speed to land anything as flush on Mayweather as the punch Shane stung him with).

Duran stopped Cuevas a former 147 pound world champion still rated in the top 10 and Davey Moore a reigning junior middleweight champion.
