Mayweather has better defence. Leonard is better offensively, and has more power. Both of them have fast hands and feet. Mayweather seems to throw better single shots, while Leonard throws better combinations. Both have high ring intelligence, although Mayweather might have the edge. Leonard has defeated far tougher and more skilled opponents. Leonard probably has the better chin, although Mayweather is fairly tough and determined too. Both are versatile and can change their approach in the middle of a fight. It would be competitive, but I would favour Leonard, as we've actually seen him come out on top over all time great monsters in the ring. I think he'd have trouble trying to get through Mayweather's defence, and he'd get hit with good counters, but after a few rounds he'd start getting more aggressive as he did with Hearns, and Mayweather wouldn't be able to stand his ground and fight him off, as he'd come off worse in exchanges due to the power difference and Leonard's fluid combination punching. He'd have to concentrate more on staying away and defending himself, and Leonard would pick up rounds on activity to win a decision.
when are you people going to wake up to Mayweather?? what more does he have to do to prove how good he is? one of the best ever and actually getting better
While FMJ is a heck of a boxer, SRL faced tougher competition and should had walk through FMJ defense, better puncher and bigger and was a tremedous boxer himself, in reallity Floyd hasn't face any real treat and still should have a loss in his resume, it's a shame that we don't have a 154 Mugabi, Duran, Benitez, Hearns or the Hawk...
You don't think comparing him to the likes of SRL or Duran tells you that pretty much everyone considers him great, even if he falls a bit short? I don't know why you even posted that comment.
I think you are right. Floyd is a great fighter, no doubt, but I can't see him beating up Kalule like Leonard did or outboxing Benitez. I think Leonard was good enough to counter FLOYD'S counter, and hurt him enough for Floyd to go on the defensive. Floyd barely beat a one dimensional De La Hoya, and I can't get that fight out of my mind. Leonard would have destroyed that Oscar.
How can Floyd be starting to pull ahead? He's no wins over an ATG in their prime. Ray beat Duran, Hearns, Benitez, and Hagler after a three year lay off. None of Floyd's wins come close to those.
leonard would put the ali shuffle on him, a few bolo punches, body shots etc. mosley shook floyd- leonard would do that and finish it
1 or 2 years ago, this fantasy fight was a joke to most people's eyes and with just 2 good wins over Guerrero who beat who at welterweight? :huh and Canelo who was beating guys at least 20 lbs smaller than him on fight night suddenly Mayweather has a good fighting chance? :huh atsch How about let's take a good look at who SRL beat.. Duran, Hearns, Hagler.. And compare it to who FMJ beat. . . At least find someone comparable to those 3.. Benitez might even pull a victory against Floyd..
SRL TKO 12, KO 15. SRL simply beat a higher class of competition, had a better offensive arsenal, and versatility. SRL would struggle in this fight, it took Ray a while to crack Floyd Sr's defense, but SRL had too much to prove and would find a way to win with pressure and agression.
