Leonard beats PBF just like he beat Benitez.....same type of fight.....same result. Benitez was a better boxer than Mayweather.

leonard would win- but you cant go by his demolition of Floyds snr. Father was nothing like son in this case- different fighters completely. If anything I think Floyds style is much more cautious and defensive because he has seen his father and uncle get beaten down first hand.

i hate it when people say that leonard would smash floyd cos he beat senior- so he knows how to beat the style. thats bull****. he might beat floyd- but no on those grounds.

Why....the Mayweather family is genetically inferior in the ring to Leonard. He would beat the son like he beat the father.

Sure PBF is better than his father......but PBF ain't no Wilfredo Benitez, and Leonard handled him....:good

If the original poster is quite serious, I suggest he watch SRL vs Tommy Hearns 1. Boxers back then and even up to the early 90's were so much better than the boxers we have now. Come on... Paulie Malignaggi............ come on. So many frauds now being guarded and used to rake in profits in their respective hometowns. Dam shame.

If you want to know what boxing is when boxing was boxing, and boxers weren't afraid to fight the best. Watch guys like Salvador Sanchez v. Azumah Nelson, Orlando Canizales, Roberto Duran v. Esteban DeJesus 1 and 2, Ray Mercer, Iron Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier, Ali, Larry Holmes, Meldrick Taylor v. Buddy McGirt, SRL v. Tommy Hearns. These are some of my favorites.

How can you say his dad has a better chin, when the last time floyd came close to getting knocked out?

    :-(

PBF jumped over 140, only fought Gatti and Corley at that weight. He wouldn't fight other fighters at that weight. IMO he avoided KT for example. Prime KT would put PBF in a world of hurt - a very good style matchup - fast but with limited power. PBF's best weight was below 140.

PBF has definitely never proved that he could beat SRL, based on his competition and the way he has won.

<Sorry, my mistake, I thought you were talking about 140>

When was the last time floyd got tagged in the face by a SRL 400 times??

He's been caught square on the chin and sent back into the ropes by way less powerful dudes.

This is the BULL**** I'm talking about. Whinng how todays fighters suck, blah blah. For ****s sake think of the fights we've had the last 10 years or so. Morales-Barrera I-III, Gatti-Ward I-III, Marquez-Vasquez I-III, Pacquiao-Morales I-III, Coralles-Castillo, Lewis-Klitschko, ODLH-Mosley, ODLH-Vargas, Trinidad-Mayorga, Trinidad-Vargas, Cotto-Mosley, Calzaghe-Kessler, Pavlik-Taylor, Katsidis-Earl, Adamek-Cunnigham, Pacquiao-Marquez I-II, Barrera-Marquez, Cotto-Judah, Mayweather-Hatton, Pacquiao- Cotto, Hopkins-Trinidad, Mormeck-Bell, Margarito-Cotto, Cotto-Torres, Wright-Taylor, etc etc etc.. Quit whining, and if all you can say is how this era sucks, keep your ass in the Classic section. I have had plenty of good fights to enjoy recently, from one end of the globe to the other..

Lb for lb, and h2h I see Mayweather being as good as Sugar Ray.

However, he was at his best at 130 or 135. SRR's best weight was 147.

    Strike 1.

Sugar Ray had a much bigger punch, one punch KO power.

    Strike 2.

And finally, Sugar Ray demonstrated more heart and balls than Floyd has so far.

    Strike 3.

Therefore, I believe the Sugar man takes this, and with less difficulty than many might expect.

A good post, from a knowledgeable poster!!

As the guy said, anyone who picks Mayweather is an idiot who knows nothing about the sport of boxing.

You know so little about the sport of boxing, why are you on this site?

You are the sort of troll/idiot that I am convinced only exists to demean the reputation of this once-great site! Please **** off!!

    :good

The essence of this match-up, summed up in three strikes!!

Only those who think boxing began in 2000 would give Mayweather any chance in this fight, and those guys really should be learning about the history of the sport, rather than posting on this site!!

Not really though, right? I mean, seriously mate, not really?

Mayweather beat Genaro Hernandez and Diego Corrales at 130, then struggled woefully with Jose Luis Castillo at 135.

Leonard convincingly beat Benitez and Duran at 147, and stopped Thomas Hearns there too.

It really is astounding to me how much value knowledgable boxing people put into an aesthetically pleasing shoulder roll and some neat moves. Mayweather has never come anywhere close to achieving the level of performance that Leonard did, nowhere near the same effectiveness or versatility, but because he has (most of the time) looked hot against overmatched opponents, he must be as good. It's baffling to me, truly baffling. :nut
