I'd say Norris hit harder because of how Terry hurt Ray. Tommy didn't really have the tools that Terry had and his jab and right hand was pretty much all he had going for him at the time. Tommy didnt even know how to clinch. He was just a raw 22 year old with some speed and some punching power.

With Norris, you saw the versatility with the pinpoint left hook that dropped Sugar Ray, the right cross that dropped Sugar Ray, the left jab that snapped sugar ray's head, the body shots that intimidated leonard back, discouraging him from taking chances. Then there was the left uppercut in the third that destroyed Leonard. And the speed and mobility that left Leonard missing by feet, not inches.

Tommy Hearns never used an uppercut the way Terry did. Leonard was not prepared for it even with all his experience, he didnt know how defend against it. Terry ripped that uppercut as soon as he saw the opening, right through his guard and took care of Leonard right there and then the way Larry Holmes took care of Mike Weaver.

How could leonard deal with so multi talented a fighter as Norris? It's no wonder that he lost.

it is a testament to the courage of leonard. He did last but that's all he did. In the end all he could do is bow his head and acknowledge Terry as his master. Why bother to deny it?

I bet all Leonard fans wish that Terry Norris had never been born.

Is it really worth your time? No matter what points you bring up to completely de-rail everything he says, he will always come up with some non-sensical 5 paragraph response spewing the same garbage he's been spewing from the beginning. This is called trolling. He does it to get a rise out of you. Noone is actually that foolish.

Since when are facts garbage? I use quotes from the best in the business: Randy Gordon, TIm Ryan, Gil Clancy, Steve Farhood, Sugar Ray Leonard.

It's not me talking, it's them.

Amateur careers are less valuable now than they were then. They're virtually different sports nowadays.

Discerning any difference between a guy with 60 and a guy with a 100 fights is splitting hairs, I'd agree... however a guy with 20 fights and a guy with 50 fights -now that's a different story altogether.

We'll just have to agree to disagree about whether or not there are more boxers today than yesterday. In the U.S. I can promise you that there are less now than 60 years ago.

Bokaj,i appreciate jones lost weight but in the second tarver fight he looked fine. The trinidad fight is meaningless really. Felix is not a 168 er,has been too inactive and cannot deal with a class boxer.
And ray leonard had a five year retirement at 40 after the norris loss,i discount both as ray would have whipped both in his prime.

Jones would probably have whipped Tarver in his prime as well. Point is, Jones had his only three losses when around 35 and just coming off a pretty impressive achievement that probably took its toll both physically and mentally, and since then he's racked up straight wins.

That's not really much to hold against someone. Just like Leonard's losses to Norris and Camcho aren't much to hold against him.

We can agree to disagree,i just feel ray fought and beat truely great opposition in tough fights, while roy fought much lesser opposition and didnt fight the best fighters. Roys current run means nothing as he is only fighting contendors and has beens. If he beats calzaghe i will change that view!
Bottom line is ray is a proven top all time great, whereas i feel jones is great but a bit unproven history wise...
