I have Leonard higher as well, I just think people here tend to be a bit harsch on RJJ. He didn't beat the kind of fighters Leonard did, but he did beat some really good fighters and was utterly dominant during his prime. I'm no fan boy, but I just find it hard to look past his greatness.

And then some. He has thousands of posts per Ray and tens of thousands of words i'd venture.

He's actually gained Leonard more fans than one could count thru his persistent ramblings.

Sometimes i wonder if he is a closet SRL fan and gets his kicks reading all the praise he draws out

    ;)

I'm sorry but too many people dispute the Hagler fight so I couldn't rightfully include his name. :smoke Will Lalonde do?

Shot mugabi, shot welter curry, shot leonard, shot smaller taylor (140 man.) and simon brown a welter. (who also starched him as well.)
Ray has unbeaten benitez, one loss duran, unbeaten hearns, two loss hagler and unbeaten kalule or lt heavy lalonde......HMMMMM,i wonder whos is better......????

    Now to losses........
Leonard peak: lost to duran, then avenged twice.
Past peak: norris points and camacho inside at 40.

Norris peak: clean cocked by jackson and brown. At age 30/31 loses three in a row to millings, rosenblatt and boudani, two inside schedhule. (to say nothing of the santana and derrick kelly losses.)

At age 31 ray had only lost once, norris 8......
Come on red, tell us how so????!!!!!!

    Prove they were shot.

Okay, maybe Donald had seen better days and since he lost a few he wasn't exactly on the upswing of his career.

Donald lost only to the best and that includes the magnificent Lloyd Honeyghan, McCallum, Nunn. That puts Terry in good company. In fact at the time, many were pulling for Donald to take him (Terry) out.

But again, Terry fooled the experts! :happy

As George Foreman was to say after the fight, "Terry Norris is rising into greatness"

    The rise had already begun.

Now for Hagler. I don't consider that a victory Enquirer. Having seen Marvin 3 weeks prior in sparring with the Weaver tripplets I had seen the early preview.

So you see, it wasn't really Ray Leonard who did anything special to defeat him or executed some brilliant new plan that Marvin hadn't seen before that was missing from previous opposition.

Since his sparring partners had their way with him, dazzling Marvin with their speed and amateur level skills, only to greater effect, you can't very well put the blame on leonard so much as the decline in Marvin, the

    middleweight champion.

I'm sorry I had to tell you that.

Next we have 40 pounds overweight Duran from 1980 and short pudgy slow Duran of the late 80s. pretty much a bum by then-bordering on clubfighter status.

Still feel like bragging about you man?

    Didn't think so. :smoke

It's in the books so it's a fact. We don't have to like it Robbi but we do have to abide by it. Ray should not be included in the fab four.
