As someone on the general forum stated; Those guys were soo shot they had holes in them....
I have to prove meldrick was shot? He was 14 pounds above his best weight and had been destroyed by chavez.
Curry had been beaten by loyd, mccallum, jaquet and nunn all inside, and he was a 147 man.
Mugabi was 4 years after the hagler fight, johns best showing, and brown was a welter who lost to mcgirt in 91 and then beat/lost to norris two years later and thereafter did nothing much....

Well Duran was 14 pounds over his best weight and was 29 and he still beat Leonard and you still want to brag leonard beat him knowing he just took off 40 pounds.

If you can brag about Leonard's feat of beating Duran I can brag about Norris stopping taylor (25 years old at the time) who didnt even have to sweat off 40 pounds. And last time I checked was holding a world title.

    Shot, my ass! You're shot!

"He was 14 pounds over his best weight Rooster, can't you see that he's shot?" :nut

Duran won titles at lt middle and middle after beating leonard, how many weights did meldrick win titles in?
And if you discount the duran fights then hagler is very poor because he let an older fatter version of duran go 15 with him,and marvin was at his peak and a full 160 er.....not soo marvelous hey?:D
And i said fourteen pounds over and RUINED by JCC roosty.....

Never mind this garbage. You made a statement Taylor was shot now you're trying to change the subject.

How does all this make Taylor shot? How does one fight turn you into a shot fighter when you're 25 and holding a title?

Duran and Taylor are different animals. One is a top 10 'pound for pound' fighter. The other wouldn't make anyones top 100.

Slightly off topic, only I think Taylor would have easily gone on to b e a top 50 p4per had he not suffered that horrendous beating in the Chavez fight. I hate to discredit Norris' victory, but Taylor was finished by the time he got to him.

Sometimes a vicious beating does turn a fighter 'shot',or at any rate never the same again. David reid, razor ruddock, mugabi, taylor, lacey and others can testify to this.....

Does this apply to Hagler also because he's been in a few.

    Archie Moore
    Harry Greb
    Carlos Monzon
    Ray Robinson

Guys, this is my first time here after a lengthy run at another boxing forum that for me had run it's course. I decided it was time to see what else is out there so here I am ...

I believe Ray Leonard, putting his terrible ego and manipulative personality aside, was an great fighter, one of the greatest pound for pound fighters of the second half of the 20th Century. He defeated exceptional competition, showed tremendous skills and dominated the sport the way very few manage to do. I look forward to reading your previous posts at length and responding to more pointed issues raised. I simply just got in and wanted to post something before I head out to work...:happy

I would like to be the first to welcome you.

Do you remember me? I was the big Roy Jones and Terry Norris fan. The moderator didnt like it so he gave me the boot.

Hagler was still formidable after hearns and mugabi,i just think that leonards speed and smarts would always be too much for hags.....
