Wtf is explosive punching? Could you be more vague? Reason Holyfield beat Mercer was because Holy controlled him with the jab. And Mercer at times showed very little head movement. And when he did move his head, he would get stuck in place. Aka if he moved his head, his feet would be clued to the canvas. Larry Holmes controlled him with the jab as well. And old man Homes's jab was more predictable than Usyk's is. Yet Mercer had no real answer but to take it, reset and wait for his opening. When Mercer got Holmes in trouble, it was Holmes' jab that bailed him out and regained him the control of the fight. Usyk would box circles around him.

Thats the fat past prime Mercer you talking. He barely trained and only ate Mcdonalds in mid to late 90s. I'm talking about the fast 80s Mercer who trained in the US Army. That Army Mercer would have high chance of KO Usyk.
Fact: Ray Mercer as an amateur wobbled/rocked the feared Cuban Felix Savon in 1988 Olympic trials but was robbed of a TKO victory because of a Cuban referee. Mercer went on to win Olympic gold in 1988.
