The same WALD fans that criticise Lewis for never fighting 'prime' Tyson or Holyfield you mean :think

They're best ignored, they love the fighter not the sport.

Of course he was shot, look at his performance for God's sake. Whoever claims he was prime is an idiot.

I still find it a bit unbelievable, a bit sad really, that he's still fighting at 47.
    That he's still having to.

Well apparently he hasn't had a prime yet, maybe that's what he's doing - waiting for it to come along :D

Mercer was not shot. He was past his body prime maybe, but not SHOT. Give me a break. He is still fighting 6 years later. What do you consider "SHOT" then? Past his prime? That's not shot. Of course I agree, that Wlad made him look worse than Lennox.

By that logic Foreman (45) was dead when he won the world title.
And even deader (nearly 50) when he fought against Briggs.

By that logic Byrd was also shot when he met Wladimir. "Look at Byrd's performance." No, it was Byrd's prime, but Wladimir made him LOOK shot.

Wouldn't a prime george foreman of knocked out briggs ????

Plus everyone is different vargas was past his best young like tyson was finished and out of prime young.

Do you understand what prime means at all

Prime is when your body is in its optimal fighting condition, most powerful, fastest and best punch resistance etc........

Therefore the worst boxer in the world has a prime they can lose every fight but can be in there prime.

The mercer that fought wlad was no where near his best :patsch

I can no longer be botherd to argue with an ignorant know nothing ****, please watch some fights other then wlad/vitali and then comeback and post when you know what you are talking about.

You are the dumbest poster ive ever seen and that is saying something !!!!!!!!!!!!

Noone knows. Foreman 1 was mainly KOer of bums. He had a big punch (as far as we can tell from his wins against bums) but very little experience. Ali was much more experienced and look what happened.

This is the body prime. But there is also experience.
But he was not SHOT. This is what this thread is about.

Wow, so many exclamation marks. Must be true then.

Ray Mercer was not near his prime.

Then again, I don't think anyone really considers it among Wlad's best 10 wins in terms of opponent.

He was well past his prime, but was still a decent journeyman/stepping stone
