    Lewis wasn't an elite fighter yet when they fought. Mercer was part of the process of making Lewis one.

    yeah that night was infamous with bad decisions..besides wilson getting the shaft so did ross purrity in his fight with morrison....however mercer and morrison were big names in the division and the powers to be certainly couldn't let a couple of journeymen ruin their marketability smh

    With Mercer you never knew what to expect, he was a night & day kind of boxer. That's why he had these lackluster performances. But to say he had no boxing skills? On his night he was a very skilled boxer. When this man got his jab going you were in trouble.
