Prime Mercer vs 91 George Foreman. I think old Foreman could outbox Mercer to a UD. In some ways, I give old Foreman a better chance than the younger version. Old Foreman still retained his power, but paced himself better and IMO, had a better chin. If young Foreman couldn't stop Mercer early to mid rounds, he'd get knocked out in the later rounds as Mercer had a good deal of punching power. But I doubt he'd stop old Foreman early or late.

This fight would never happen. GF and his team carefully checked out his opponents. Ray Mercer, durable, strong, hard puncher, etc., checks all the boxes to be a man GF would avoid.

Comeback Foreman would never ever get near Mercer.............all smoke and mirrors

Comeback Foreman was all about the $$$ with the least amount of risk, title shots only, featherfill in between, light punching Holyfield, Tommy Chin. glass chinned light Heavy Moorer, he lost two out of three, you do the math.

I’m not sure which version was “ prime “ Mercer but if they had met in 1991 with no changes being made to either rendition of either man then I pick George by decision

Very close fight that I’ve gone back and forth on, slightly favour Mercer, he could box and was underrated in that department, if we’re taking the Mercer that fought Holmes or before, I favour Foreman, Mercer was more predictable with his attack then, walking forward in straight line not using the jab, after that he started using the jab much better and was more versatile, the version from the Holyfield and Lewis fights beat Foreman narrowly IMO.
