    Golota mentally crumbles at some stage against the mentally and physically tough Mercer.

    It's easy to dismiss the very decent Golota and say he will melt mentally but it happened to often. Just not in his make up to come through Mercer. Both at their best of course.

    Yeah, it's kinda funny that in a career against so many capable punchers, the fighter who hurt Holyfield the most with a single head shot was John Ruiz of all people. Just shows again how boxing can be so unpredictable.

    Mercer ran hot and cold, the guy who gave Lewis one of his toughest fights also lost to Jesse Ferguson, 42 year old Larry Holmes, and was getting comprehensively beaten by Damiani. Mercer could be outboxed, but I can't help but think Golota would find a way to lose.

    He did it against Bowe, twice, while ahead. He did it against Grant. He just froze up against Lewis, or supposedly was injected some drug beforehand because he was wandering the streets cluelessly.
