Hilarious watching posters praise Mercer for getting 6-4’d by Lewis while ignoring that Wikder drew with Fury and almost took him out in separate fights.

Wilder can't fight on the back foot, has no jab, and has a padded record full of C-grade horse****. The first actual live A-grade opponent he fought was a post-cocaine Fury who got robbed on the scorecards, then he got absolutely destroyed by him in the 2nd fight. There's zero chance he loses to Mercer.

H2H I doubt Stiverne was even top 10 when he fought Wilder

The following I would pick to beat him as of 2015
    Wlad
    Povetkin
    Wilder
    Fury
    Pulev
    Ortiz
    Joshua
    Parker
    Ruiz
    Chisora

probably also Jennings and Kabayel, Whyte with the benefit of hindsight

"Coming close" doesn't count for the opposing stance yet "almost" counts for your argument just one day later?

    Your double standards are elite.

You seem to have mistaken my ridicule for other posters for an argument I made. But Wilder did successfully defend his title against Fury, now that you mention it.

That might have something to do with Pajkik, Cunningham, and Ngannou all dropping Fury and of course the Wallin debacle. Fury could never go more than a few fights without a terrible performance.

Nobody is claiming these other guys are anything special based on giving Fury issues.

McCall and Rahman can claim to have had better careers than Mercer without even needing the Lewis wins.

Maybe, I can't get over the Maskaev losses. He did nothing in his career aside from beating Rahman himself and lost to Corey Sanders. Those are horrendous losses in my book and worse Rahman was in excellent shape for both fights. He has no excuse whatsoever for losing to Maskaev and he managed it twice.

With Wilder, Ortiz is his only impressive win and we have no idea how good Ortiz is due to lack of big fights

Wilder has three wins over top 5 opponents and a draw w the best guy in the division h2h. He also was consistent enough to win and defend a title into double digits. Mercer didn’t do that.

Maskaev was game against Tua and beat Sam, Miroshnichenko, and Jefferson. Rahman looked headed to victory in both of those fights but got caught late. Mercer struggled and lost to worse fighters.

You don't need to knock out or even knock down a titanium chin opponent to beat them up or stop them.

Case in point: Foreman vs Chuvalo. Started somewhat competitive, then a severe beating in the corner.

I can't favor Fury over Kabayel given what Kabayel has gone on to accomplish let alone a rusty version of Fury coming off a layoff. People keep trying to credit Fury with being better than guys he won't fight and I'm over it. I don't think Stiverne in reality was even top 10. If you disagree I am open to arguments.

Mercer's losses to poor opponents were without exception when he was out of shape. Rahman was in excellent shape for both fights with Maskaev so not quite the same situation.

Fury loves a dogfight. That’s why he took those Chisora fights. Kabayel would be in Fury’s comfort zone.

It’s pretty amusing how you wrote “without exception“ before proceeding to make an exception for a bunch of Mercer’s poor showings. And yes he was in shape for Holmes.

If he fights and beats Kabayel we will have some actual tangible evidence for him being a better fighter beyond the imagination of his apologists. That hasn't happened though.

Mercer was badly out of shape vs Ferguson and Wilson. I don't see how that is arguable.

Mercer's weight was totally normal for the Ferguson fights.

And Fury doesn't owe you any evidence that he can beat Kabayel. Kabayel isn't a top 20 heavyweight all time.

Mercer was in great shape for the Ferguson rematch and barely escaped with a close decision.

Mercer was in great shape vs Holyfield but still got decked and lost clearly to a Holyfield who was on a bad run of form at that time.

I think Mercer gets alot of mileage out of the Lewis loss in which I still think Lewis purposely slugged with Mercer to prove his toughness to the American public. As he was on the comeback trail and had alot of doubters after getting chinned by McCall.
