    Sitting here watching Holyfield vs Mercer and started wondering, how would Charles at about 180 pounds do vs a 224 pound Mercer. Charles is smaller but appreciably more skilled.

    I think Ezzard Charles could have won a decision here. Mercer hit hard but he wasn’t an all time great level puncher. Charles went many rounds in both victory and defeat with men like Rocky Marciano, Elmer Ray, Archie Moore, Joe Walcott, and an aged Joe Louis among others. And as mentioned was vastly more skilled and mobile than Mercer.
