mercer was like morrison, their frames were not that big, morrison had chicken legs and mercer was a pig at 230, foreman weighed 229 at 18 im the amateurs, bowe 216 at 21, lewis 220 at 22-23. tyson and frazier looked good in the 201 pounds limit when they were amateur ( they were short guys but naturally very robust), mercer and morrison are not "natural" it was all added mass

 

You said that mercer is fat and that he took roids, make up your mind man, don't you know that 35 lbs is easy to add with steroids without changing bodyfat much.
So how the hell is than he fat according to you?
He looks in great shape to me 236 lbs, natural. Larry holmes in his comeback was fat, frazier against foreman also... They lookefžd flabby and weak, not strong and thick like mercer.

 

You can be fat and take steroids. Just like most nightclub bouncers or wannabe bodybuilders, they are fat and they take steroids.

Maybe Mercer didn't take steroids. I don't care, we don't know. But he was definitely fat against Lewis.
If you can't see he is fat, there's something wrong with you.

 

He looks strong like a bull to me, as I said frazier vs foreman looked fat and weak... As opposed to mercer, who looked like a powerlifter against lewis... See the difference?
Maybe mercer was fat by your standards, but atleast he was strong, unlike frazier who looked like a pudgy fat who can't do 10 push ups, mercer looked like he can deadlift 500 lbs

 

Yes, but with all due respect, this isn't a weight lifting contest though is it?

Frazier couldn't lift but Mariusz Pudswanski could and guess who actually achieved something in the art of fighting?

Frazier even while not at his best, could go 15 rounds, something Mercer didn't show us.

Mercer had a good jab, but Ali had a great one.

Apart from 'tough' Mercer brings nothing to the table.

And unfortunately in this scenario he's fighting one of the toughest if not the toughest heavyweight of all time.

 

I'm just talking about who is stronger and obviously mercer is, and has a big weight advantage, but according to some that is just fat... Well some of them like to bring size when talking about marciano, so next time i'm just gonna say that's cause they'r fat...

 

Mercer never knocked anyone out that was decent aside from Morrison and Morrison was less than durable. He is not stopping Frazier. Prime Frazier would outwork Mercer and win an easy decision. Easy Frazier win.

 

Ask he grant why did r. Bowe avoided mercer if mercer is not a big puncher

 

Look at his record. Who did he ko? Mercer was a grade "C" hwt. A nothing and a nobody who had no business being in the ring with a fighter like Foreman or Frazier.

Riddick Bowe was knocked out cold multiple times in the amateurs. His chin was questionable. He was stopped by Lewis in the Olympics ( even thought I found it premature) .. coming into the pros the word on Bowe was he had serious talent but his heart/dedication and chin were serious question marks. There is no doubt that Futch built him up carefully .. he fought a good puncher in Bert Cooper but Cooper was not top tier .. really he did not fight any top flight big punchers. The best he fought were Holyfield (who did knock him down and hurt him badly ) , Herbie Hide ( who did stun him ), Golota ( who dropped him multiple times ) and Seldon. He never fought Lewis, Mercer, Ruddock, Tyson even Morrison or Moorer.

As far as Frazier goes you are simple wrong. There is not a fighter that ever fought that could come in to George Foreman , get hit and not get badly hurt, let alone a post prime Frazier who happened to fight his entire professional career with severely limited sight in one eye. The fact that he stood up through out his career as he did is amazing. Again, virtually blind on one eye, taking the shots he did is amazing.

 

Mercer could hit. Besides Morrison look at his one punch shot at Damiani, a very talented heavyweight .. when motivated Mercer gave Lewis and Holyfield terrific fights .. Mercer's issue was he was hot and cold .. often not the most motivated himself and often not in the best shape. He could hit and he had an exceptional chin, one of the all time best.

 

bonavena was better,stronger and hits harder than mercer, and not , he was not close to stop frazier
