Dokes was good, but he wasn't better than Morrison or Damiani.

Wasn’t Morrison an overweight junkie by the time he fought Ruddock? Plus he had aids

Yeah, he was crap. Him and Ruddock were crap in 1995.
Ruddock was pretty good in 1990.
Dokes was good back in the early 1980s.

    Prime Dokes > Prime Morrison
    Clearly.

Dokes by decision I guess. Someone mentioned his great power earlier and I'm scratching my head over that. Part of his problem (besides his bad habits and stationary legs) was that his power was actually very minimal. He had very little in that regard.

But he was busy and tough and could hang in, which should be enough to beat a Mercer-type.

Dokes by UD, winning 10 out of 15, or 8 out of 12 rounds. But he would have to box him, he could take a punch, but doesn't want to get into a permanent slugfest with Mercer.

Dokes doesn't have enough power to keep the best Mercer off. Mercer had a brilliant jab and heavy hands. He walks through Dokes, loses the first half of the fight and starts to burst Mike up from 8 on, stopping him in the 11th round of a decent match
