mercer by brutal stoppage after taking what ringsiders may perceive to be a beating...i see this as being like the morrison fight..moorer looks good for a few rounds, mercer looks at the clock and realises mcdonalds is about to close for the night, so he ups the ante, knocks moorer spark out and leaves the ring for a big mac and fries...

Ray Mercer had one of the strongest jabs I have ever seen.
his jab was like an average heavyweight's best straight right.
Moorer although one of my favs in the 90's, never really had the type of chin it would take to last in a fight against a "Merciless" Ray Mercer.

If the right motivated Moorer would show up, I'd give him a possible chance at a decision. but my Head/Money tells me Ray will eventually catch him. (MM)
+ I don't see the southpaw style giving Mercer any trouble at all. (Mooorer's one true advantage)
Plus Ray's granite chin was that of legend!

Overall I'd say Mercer by K.O.
we missed alot of great fights during this great HW era.

Moorer is one of my top 5 favorite Heavyweights ever. I found myself rooting for him always -even against Holyfield whom I followed like a shadow since 1986.

The guy was a Shakespearean character -I don't know of another fighter who showed you who he was so honestly without even trying. He had his demons to be sure, but he struggled to overcome them and did in my opinion -that war with a dangerous and inspired Bert Cooper, beating Holyfield, embarrassing George Foreman for almost 10 rounds, and then reclaiming a HW belt make him a serious man as well as a dangerous HW -and all this after going undefeated as a LHW. Incidentally, head-to-head I put him in the top 5 at 175... at least.

I loved his post-fight interviews and still watch them because he was so easy to connect to... Remember him in their against Holyfield and saying "bap bap bap" as he found his rythym? Or the drama between him and his spritual mentor -Teddy "Freud ain't got nothing on me" Atlas? He was always gracious and gave credit to where it belonged. I love this guy.

Anyway... Mercer is a juggernaut and those are tough to beat if your chin isn't of the Holyfield type. However, Moorer was far better schooled than Mercer and if he took his time, paced himself well, and exploded when he had to, I see Moorer taking a decision. He was capable of doing better than Morrison -who did not have the offensive array that Moorer had and who was more basic in the fundamentals.

Moorer had excellent boxing skills when he elected to use them. That would have been the right idea against the steel-chinned Mercer. Bert Cooper came right at Moorer and pressured him treating fans to one of the most electrifying fights of all-time. Cooper also gave Mercer life and death in their 1990 battle. Moorer is definately capable of outboxing Mercer. But something tells me Mercer would eventually catch up to him and knock an exhausted Moorer out in a GREAT fight. Too bad it never really happened. A shame.

    Mercer by late round kayo.

I think Mercer would win by mid round TKO. Morrer's chin would not hold up. Mercer was not shy about throwing his right hand, and its the right than lands best vs southpaws.
