There is no question this would've been an exiting fight, but who wins this fantasy matchup?

As long as he is in shape, Bowe wins this one going away. He is on another level than Ray. Mercer's amazing chin is the only thing keeping him from getting knocked out.

Bowe would win this by a decision imo. But I see it has one of those 1990 s heavyweight classic s
.,with Ray pushing Bowe to his limits.

You have a good idea of what would happen by looking at the Mercer-Witherspoon fight. I thought Tim won that fight and Bowe would do a little better than Tim. Bowe by UD.

Bowe by UD. Bowe had a great jab and the uppercut would be there.

That said, this would be a terrific fight to watch imo, and there's an outside chance Ray knocks Bowe down.

Bowe UD, but would be a really fun fight. This fight was going to happen but Mercer dropped a decision to Ferguson

I'll take Mercer. Bowe's not gonna hurt him and Ray will find Riddick often. Big Daddy didn't have a good defense either. Its gonna be a slugfest and test of determination. Ray Mercer will dig deeper. Bowe won't get dirty with Ray like he did in other fights. Mercer won't allow it.

Which Mercer turns up? The underwhelming plodder or the overachieving top shelf version? If top notch, Mercer by UD.

That's precisely it, Ray's chin. It keeps him on his feet, just, but Bowe batters him.

The Mercer that turned up to fight Lewis would give him more trouble than he gave Lewis because Mercer was able to get inside without much issue and land a lot on Lewis, he was able to get in even though Lewis had really good feet and movement, so he is going to get in on Bowe who had way worse feet than Lewis and also had a worse defence than Lewis therefore Mercer would land when he got in, even though Bowe was good on the inside, he would take punches to give his, I’m taking all things into consideration and there is no way this wouldn’t be a competitive fight, Bowe wouldn’t deter Mercer from coming because Mercer wasn’t deterred from Lewis on the outside and Lewis has better straight punches and he has a harder straight right than bowe and also gets better extension and is also better technically on the outside than bowe so Bowe would land no more straight punches on Mercer than Lewis

Mercer from the Lewis fight beats the BeJesus out of any version of Bowe.

Mercer did good against Lummox , that doesn't mean he would do good against Bowe.

Faded out Holyfield did good against Lewis. .

Prime best ever Holyfield did worse against Bowe.. See?

Mercer would be destroyed by Bowe.

The hot lights effected the taller Lewis then they did the shorter Mercer

^ The hot lights? How about the continuous pressure of Mercer. Lewis couldnt fight inside at that time and didnt know how to shut down his opponents. This fight was specifically chosen by Emanuel Steward to give Lewis a stern test about his mettle and will to win. Lewis had to go in the trenches and use his heart to get the victory. Had Mercer been a big puncher Lewis would have been stopped. I thought Mercer took the decision. That being said Bowe, was a very good infighter and had the better skills to slug and fight inside to Mercer. I think it would have been a great fight, and Mercer had he not blown his chance against Jesse Ferguson, was in line to fight Bowe after he defeated Holyfield, but Mercer came in out of shape and lost. Bowe takes a lot of flack for not taking certain fights, but most of it was bad timing and bad management. I dont think Bowe was afraid of anyone at his peak.
