So let's say the Mercer from the Lewis fight vs the Wlad from recent fights.

I have mercer by mid round KO. Too powerful, explosive, and he's got that nice shotgun left jab to give Wladimir absolute fits. I don't think Wlad can take Mercer's best shot, to be honest. Mercer could take a shot better in his prime then when he was pushing 50 years old. I think Mercer roughs him up on the inside and uses his usual dirty tactics to take Wlad out of his regular gameplan.

    Mercer TKO7

    Mercer Tko9 Imo.

Mercer would be Too consistent with bombs, while being able to take flush shots the whole fight.

Agreed. When he's in shape and motivated he is a monster. And lets also remember that Wlad doesn't have Lewis's durability or grit. He really had to dig deep for that win. Wlad wouldn't be able to stay in the trenches with Mercer for long. Wlad can't fight on the inside and he can't take Mercer's pressure :deal

No way, Mercer was hardly ever stopped in his career, if anyone is getting KTFO it's Wlad.

Id say mercer wins by mid round ko/tko aswell. It seems like a bad matchup for Wlad against a iron chined pucher with a great jab but id give Klitschko a decent chance of outpointing Mercer if he boxes well using his height and reach to keep Mercer away. If a 42 year old Larry Holmes could outbox a prime Mercer than Wladimir has a chance to aswell.

Mercer was a beast in his prime. I honestly feel this man could go toe to toe with everyone with the exception of a prime Foreman. Iron chin, explosive power, good stamina, a prime Mercer was almost as intimidating as a prime Iron Mike. Mercer TKO over Wlad. Mercer would get shaken up, but he was more consistent with his attack and a good finisher. He fought alot smarter and had a good defense avoiding bombs like he did in the Morrison fight. If Wlad boxed him with a jab, that's the only way I see Wlad winning. Mercer's aggressiveness would be too much for Wlad. You box with the Klits, you lose unless your Ali. You have better chances in slugging with them.

Good points. Allow me to address a few of them.

Sooner or later I see Mercer cutting off the ring and showing Wlad a lot of pressure. I think Wlad will probably try to box with the jab from the getgo, but it won't work out

Yeah I agree. With the exception of Larry holmes or Jack johnson, the klits are very hard to outbox. At least Wlad is.

 Nah, Tommy isn't biased against the Klitschkos. If you consider Pacquiao to be pushing forty, then I suppose Mercer was actually pushing fifty by that measure (really 41, or so, I'd say). My analysis for this fight goes as follows: If Mercer gets Wlad into the kind of fight he got Lewis into, Wlad will more likely than not be unable to make it through the way Lennox did (I even scored that for Mercer). If he doesn't, Mercer being very far from un-out-boxable, even to someone the caliber of Jesse Ferguson (remember that scandal? :-(). Wlad makes it his fight, he still gets mashed up a little bit by Mercer's jab, maybe survive a knockdown and goes the distance for a decision victory or a late round TKO. In other words, Mercer will not outbox Wladimir from the outside and Wladimir will not win a knockdown drag-out against an iron-chinned guy with heavy hands. I lean toward the best version of Wladimir against the best of Ray on this one. But a prime Ray versus the less defensively responsible Wladimir Ray actually fought, I'd favor Ray heavily.

the point is mercer was past prime. I guess I mixed the Briggs and wlad fight up. he was way shot against wlad. Moreso against Briggs
