Ray Mercer vs Wladimir Klitschko Prime for Prime

I think the Klitschkos tend to get underrated by many on this site.

Some day you'll be bragging to kids in the future about the Klitschkos and how you were there during their reign.

 

Exactly. Career long **** up McCall got a mircale win many moons ago when Lewis walked into his punch and suddenly you have guys claiming he would dominate the current division with Mercer. :rofl I'm throwing in the towel on this one...

I wander if 10 years from now people will be talking about how Samuel Peter and Corrie Sanders would KO the dominating Champion of the next generation.

 

What? Wlad has faced live bodies it just Wlad's Great Jab were too much for them. That's What Lennox missed and had to go Brawl with these guys.

So again Wlad was/is a better jabber.

 

I dont know if Morrison is any better than Sam Peter to be honest.

 

Just keep in mind that Mercer really wasnt a big puncher. The Morrison win stands out as his best win, but he really never KO'd anyone else besides breaking Damianis nose. Thats why I dont think Mercer would win here, hes just not enough of a threat offensively speaking and the best version of Wlad is better than any version of Mercer.
If Lewis fought Mercer in 97 or 98 once he learned to tie up and grapple better on the inside it probably would have been a one sided in Lewis favor fight. Wlad also has become good at that, at least good enough to shut down Mercer who really wasnt that great of a fighter.

Suprised by so many thinking so highly of Mercer. Who basically was just a really tough top 10 heavyweight and that is about all.

Look at it this way, Mercer lost every big fight he was in except the Morrison fight.

While Mercer was old and after alcohol problems when he met Wlad (thus I do not give him much credit for the win), Wlad was also still not in his prime. I have a feeling prime Wlad is able to win enough rounds (and otherwise hold for his life if something goes wrong) to get another boring UD, even if not as dominant as against other opponents. Especially if the fight is held in Germany as most of his fights were.

 

like who for instance?? feather fisted blown up cruiser eddie chambers? yea, povetkin already proved you dont need a good jab to outbox him. sam peter?? outboxed by eddie chambers and still managed to give wlad hell in their first outing, chris byrd?? past prime and was already brutally knocked out by ibeabuchi. like i said before, you dont need a great jab to beat these fighters.
