Mercer shatters Haye's suspect chin. Annihilates him within 5, like he did Morrison.

I don't regard Haye very highly. I believe the Mercer that was in the ring against Lennox beats any version of Haye rather convincingly.

I don't rate Haye that highly but I think he has a style that could trouble Mercer.

Haye will move and counter, wont give Mercer opportunities to open up. Mercer even at his best wasn't a busy fighter due to his poor conditioning so wouldn't be really pressuring Haye much.

But I think the Mercer that fought Evander likely stops Haye while behind on points. His jab, his durability and Haye's lack of a solid chin will see Mercer come out on top.

Agreed.. Haye isn't foolish enough to stand there and trade with Mercer the way that Morrison and Cooper were, and even THOSE guys were able to give him some problems fighting that way.. While I absolutely hated the cautious fashion in which Haye fought Wlad and Valuev, I can see him using a similar strategy against Mercer where he doesn't take many chances, with the difference being that Ray didn't have the reach to tag him on the outside as those guys did. And Mercer wasn't a pressure fighter like Tyson or Frazier.. He didn't go on seek and destroy missions or cut off the ring very well. A 42 year old Holmes and 33 year old Damiani were able to win about a combined 19 rounds against him, with one of them even beating him. Not sure I agree with these claims about Haye having a "glass" chin either.. Dude was only stopped once in his 11th pro fight by a crafty veteran and while being ahead on all scorecards... Mercer is anything BUT crafty and if these two fought at their best, it wouldn't be in Haye's 11th bout either.

This is why you get laughed at.

Thompson battered Haye into submission. The stoppage had nothing to do with any cut. He was badly cut up when he went life and death with EuroBum Fragomeni.

Mercer is a far greater challenge than a 40 year old domestic level Cruiser weight.

Haye is 7-1-0 at HW . His best win being Chisora. And Chisora was giving him all sorts of trouble and would have likely won if his chin had not let him down .
His pot shot strategy did not work on Chisora. It would not work on Mercer- who was more powerful , had better boxing skills and had an unstoppable chin.
