I hold this span against Robinson when making my rankings. I fell that even at this point in his career he should not have lost one fight.
12-5-1 That was Ray Robinson's record during this span. He should have been 18-0 durring this span.
Are you going to try to convince me that Ralph Jones, Gene Fullmer, Carmen Basilio and Paul Pender were better boxers than Robinson at the time?
So make the case that I should overlook this span in the career of Ray Robinson.

SRR was vulnerable against aggressive fighters "who wanted it more" during that period of time.

    Beginning 1/19/55, Robinson was 132-3-2.

Hard to get up for every fight after 137 fights.

This thread's worse than a flame to a moth, r. To paraphrase Michael Coreleone in the GODFATHER: Just when i thoughti was out, I get pulled back in.

For me, SRR isn't a BoxRec stat. He was an all-too-real flawed man 'n AWESOME professional fighter -- in EVERY respect -- who took the pains (when everybody wanted his ear) ta give me boxing tips 'n encouragement.

To tarnish Sugar's legacy (when he was CLEARLY too long at the dance), makes me understand Julius Caesar disbelief, saying "Et tu, Brute?" when he was bein' stabbed.

Even Ray Robinson couldn't outbox Father Time. We all get old.

Your right it is hard to get up for every fight out of 137, but you need to get up for the big fights. If you want to be the best.

Age isn't an excuse. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.
Currently we have Bernard Hopkins and Glen Johnson. In the past we had Jersey Joe Walcott, Archie Moore and Jak Britton. All secuding at the top level of the sport at 35 or older.

I don't know how to do respond to more than one post. My response to sugarsean would be the same.

How is holding someone to the same standered as everyone else tarnishing his lagacy?
Name me one sport where results don't matter? Name me one sport where the exibition season is more important than the reagular season or the reagular season more important than the playoffs, or the playoffs more important than the championship?
Did he lose to better boxers in this time range? I've never herd anyone argue that he did.
I asked about this time frame because he was as far as I can tell still great in terms of his abillites. Your right he like too many great boxers held on for too long. I'm not holding it against him or anyone who dose. However when he was still great he shouldn't have lost to the guys that he lost too up to the end of 1960. That includes Jake LaMotta, Randy Turpin and Joey Maxim (I'm not moved by the 15 1/2 Lbs weight diffrance, a skilled boxer can afford a 20 Lbs disadvantage.)
My ranking of Ray Robinson would be the same had he retired at the end of 1960 or 1965.

Leonard didn't take care of himself the way he should have. The point I was making is that age is not a restriction to secuess in boxing.

He was only 36, fact is he got dominated in 6 rounds, Benny must be even more overrated I guess .

If I have to explain that, r, you'll NEVER get it. Like tryin' explain why Sinatra was in a class by himself with a lyric.
