Ray Robinson lost 2 years in the Army. Why does nobody talk about this?

I don't disagree but why then try and worm out of the consequences? Ali shouldn't have been above the law which decreed that all man must serve their country in the time of war.

I may well feel it is right to kill another if they have committed something unforgivable to a loved one of mine. However justifiable and ethnical I felt my actions were to make that decision to kill, I would still be at the mercy of the law of the land which dictates that I am to serve time inside for my actions .

Yeah, that's the point. You would choose jail under certain circumstances, I'd do the same. Ali felt that this cause is greater than himself as he wants to serve humanity not constitutional psychopathy.
I would do everything I could to worm away from actually being in jail though, everyone else would, I can't really fault someone for not wanting to go to jail. The 'law of the land' also tells you to pay the right amount of tax, how many countless numbers of good people have we met who doesn't try to tax evade with their businesses?
I would never fight for Britain if I didn't agree with what they're fighting for, I couldn't in good faith kill innocents for a country. The invasion of Iraq for example? I can't get behind that. Not even the soldiers who had their good intentions abused can get behind that.

Louis and Robinson believed in the war effort and supported it Ali did not believe in the war effort so he did not support it. To blatantly go against what you believe to be true for fear of the repercussions would make you a coward, no matter which side you are on. That being said I think it is more that the time off did not visibly diminish Robinson or Louis's career where as you said Frazier kicked Ali's ass soon after his time off. Sorry for the novel.
