Surprised to see JJ's name, K. Met him in L.A. in the early '70s on a TV commercial, and we talked fights few years ago at a California HOF luncheon.
Hes a great guy. I was up writing real late one night and had the TV on for background noise. It was about 2am and suddenly I heard this voice that I knew I recognized. I looked up and an old episode of All In The Family was playing with J. J. there talking to Archie Bunker, I had just spoken to him on the phone earlier that day LOL. When it comes to boxing history and crime history J. J. is a wealth of information.
Thats a great find, i knew there was footage of the robinson v docusen fight out there but had never seen it before, i love the way robinson sits down on every punch looking to cause as much damage as possible. At points in that clip as well shows robinson underrated defence, when he concentrates solely on defence his ability to slip punches is great.
The fight was said to be near even by the 10th round, with Robinson taking control in the last five rounds after scoring a knockdown (as seen in the video). Docusen passed away earlier this year.
