Robinson by UD, this wouldn't be Leonard Roberto would be dealing with, and he would face the fire.

Robinnson ahead on points, heading to a close and very competitive but clear victory, but Robinson is very beat up by Duran.

Then Robinson suffers from heat exhaustion and is forced to quit the fight.

Assume we're talking about a prime SRR at WW? I realize it was a few years later but Basilio did it and Duran>>>Basilio.

The prime MOTIVATED Killer that was Ray Robinson who I saw ringside, would have been too much for Duran...The Robinson who with great anger and disdain flattened "Sugar" George Costner TWICE in one round, was the greatest all around fighter that ever lived.
I shudder to think of Robinson seeing a Duran disrespecting him at a weigh in by holding
his crotch , and seeing those angry vicious combinations landing on the much smaller Duran...Think of a Tommy Hearns, with more blurring hand combinations thrown by a prime welterweight Robinson...In 1945 I saw a peak Ray Robinson almost behead a tough
tattooed Californian Jimmy McDaniels at MSG..The crowd as well as I was in awe at
this Ray Robinson and there was a deathly still silence in the hushed savage ending of this fight....I have never forgot that utter destruction....

Duran was an above average welterweight, but SRR wears his "greatest of all time" title based on what people saw as welter.

If SRR can TKO Duran he will, but more than likely it goes to a UD for Robinson.

Montreal Duran against the greatest welterweight of all time...I'll take the greatest welterweight by decision or late round stoppage. Robinson had a hell of a lot more fights at WW than Duran did and fought such men as Zivic, Angott, Bell and Gavilan as well as Abrams and never lost the WW title before jumping to MW. Duran had the fight of his career against Leonard in Montreal and then quit in thier rematch less than a year later and got ko'ed by Hearns who had the same power, give or take than Robinson. Styles make fights and I think Robinson had the style to beat Duran who would certainly give a good account of himself but go down to defeat nonetheless.

robinson by clean ko. 10 count. robinson was faster, did hit harder, he was more skilled, more accurate puncher, he had better chin, he did land better combinations, he had more stamina...robinson was better in every department, duran would have nothing to avoid a beating, similar end to the fight vs hearns , but i see a ko by a combination of more blows

Robinson... The original Sugar could do everything that SRL could do, only better ! So I like SRR by UD, but a KO is not out of the question... SRR was at his absolute best at welter with true KO power. I think Duran would have some moments, but the original Sugar beats em all at welter

I think Robinson would find Duran a tough target as Ray Leonard did in Montreal. Ray Leonard had the blazing hand speed and Duran was right on top of him making him miss and making him pay. I think both fighters would miss more punches than they were used to. Duran might have the better defense.

On the other hand Robinson`s lethal hook was so deadly its plausible to see Duran on the canvas from a lefthook counter from Sugar Ray.

I do think there is a difference in Robinson`s size and range especially at Welterweight. His ability to be out of range stop on a dime and fire off blurring combinations. He could double and triple that left like nothing. His right wasn't bad either.

I think Robinson wins a close but clear UD with maybe both guys visiting the canvas at some point.

'Montreal' Duran the most overrated boxer of all time. He won a close fight. He didn't kick any ass. Leonard went punch for punch with him. Robinson is a better brawler than Leonard. He wouldn't be taken out of his game at all despite being almost 6' tall. Robinson's style was more brawler like than it was boxer like. He might be the best presure fighter ever. With his power and Duran's track record in big fights. This dosen't make it to the halfway point.

Robinson would Hearns Duran worse than Hearns. Robinson was no Leonard, he was aggressive, he was mean and he threw every shot with concussive power. Like Burt said Ray would be particularly pissed off with Duran given his nature of **** talking. Robinson proved on several occasions he could be cruel to those who gave him lip.
